I'm not at all surprised to see this kind of idiocy from somebody who believed that, "OMG, they're censoring the 'Mission Accomplished' banner," crap.

The fact that he heard it on "the news" amuses me too. Some Guy's blog post on the front page of Digg does not count as "the news".

What's ironic is the banner ad above the article.

"Neal paused a moment before a eye roll with a wry smile and then asked again."

Rolling your eyes and smiling "wryly" in response to anything is really ugly and stereotypical nerd behavior. I was hoping his boss would fire him on the spot to teach him a lesson. I would've.

and cussing like that around employees is not? you must be a pointy haired boss that doesn't like your pride injured by a 'nerd' that tires of answering the same question by idiots. Instead of firing competent people, why don't you try to teach yourself and employees not to be idiots. oh wait.. stupid is forever.

I am very kind to users despite the questions that exist because they refuse to think. Still it is hard not to gasp or show signs of incredulity when they do idiotic stuff at times. I wouldn't want to work for someone who punished people for stupid reasons instead of something of substance. I am sure people that do that are really surrounded by competence! I guess PC behavior at all times from 'underlings' is more important than having people that aren't idiots to some... no wonder the business world is a mess.

And there are great things to be thankful for! No one complains about my attitude here at work because we are nice to each other. If I encounter jerk, I have no problem letting them know and I certainly am not going to cower before them for a job.

Nice. So people who move their eyes when they think (it's not all voluntary), as well as anyone who either holds their own opinion or has a sense of humor won't last long in your employ. Which is just as well, since you sympathize with the man throwing a temper tantrum.

<roll eyes>Hope that works out for ya.</roll eyes>

Who fucking cares? Even if you have hiring power in the real world and aren't just blowing smoke up our asses, there are plenty of other jobs waiting for *competent* developers. The position you're hiring for isn't the end-all be-all of careers. Get over yourself.

If that was sarcasm, then it wasn't obvious at all. Unless it's referencing some relatively obscure saying, then it doesn't even make sense to claim those remarks were sarcastic.

Read the post title - it clearly says "Classic WTF", which explains why you probably read it before.

You must have also missed the part where it actually has to make sense for something to be "sarcastic" in order for it to be...well "sarcastic." Clearly, those remarks don't fit that criteria, and you're going to have a hard time convicing anyone but yourself of that.
