How can we be sure the second one is not a fake? Whats all the fuzz around the text. Is it image compression, or a giveaway of image editing ? The other windows look clear, but that one has fuzz, around most of the text elements that look like a different background.
|
|
Looks like an artefact of compression to me, but why the hell would anyone bother to fake it anyway? Or have I missed the £100 posting bounty somewhere?
|
|
The observant reader would notice that the optical glare on the screen matches perfectly in (enlarged) inset.
It has not been faked. And it is funny. I wonder if the New Hardware was a new denomination of bill the Treasury introduced? |

Huh. The observant reader would realize the posters above you are talking about the second image and not the fourth.

I woudln't survive if I couldn't use ATMs...
Guess we (=the dutch ones) are quite depended on them. |
Let's try again.
I wouldn't survive a day if I couldn't use ATMs... Guess we (=the dutch) are quite depended on them. |
hmm, how can we be sure that YOU are not a fake? how can you be sure I am not a fake? These questions are important! |
How can we be sure this whole website is not a fake O.O |
I prefer the term Artificial Person myself. |

Follow the white rabbit. |
It's a label control with a different background (on the dev's box the default system background matches the fixed color, on the user's ... doesn't). |
All your password are belong to us. All your account number are belong to us. All your deposit are belong to us. |
|
Why oh why do ATM use Windows?!?
I mean no harm, but come on, maybe they we're installing a WiFi card, because, you know, the router is kind of far away... damn! |
By sniffing the Wi-Fi, I have stolen all the account numbers. You can buy them back for 50 gazillion dollars. I need the money to pay my hospital bills and retire. Fax me the money, in small unmarked bills. --Fidel Castro |

[x] I want to try it in 30 days.
... 30 days later ... Ok, time to try it! What? The trial is up? : ( |
Maybe it's like WinRAR, and just nags you after that time, without actually disabling any functionality. |
It is JPEG compression artefacts. Now you know why GIF is much better for the screenshots ;). |
Voight-Kampff tests for everyone. |

Do you sure to cancel?
A few years ago I saw one of my colleagues maintain a system in which the user, upon pressing Cancel in any screen, would be presented a message box that asked "Continue cancel?" and had two buttons, OK and Cancel. |
I'm not fake! Your the ones that are fake!...yes that's it...Everyone's but me is now fake!...well I'm onto you and your plans...You won't have me!...I'm the only real human left...I can't! I won't become one of you!...There aren't any options left save one...Well I'll show you! I'll show you all!!!!...... |

I may be synthetic, but I'm not stupid.

"Do you sure to cancel current process ?"
This is what happens when you interrupt the programmer. |
|
They recently upgraded one of the BofA ATM's that I use with Windows based software... amazingly the system is lightning fast and can actually keep up with my uber-geek keystrokes now.
|
Okay then. |
|
Uh, what's so WTF about the Groupwise dialog?
Yes = Do the busy search and continue No = Don't do the busy search but continue doing what you requested Cancel = Abort the operation completely. No busy search. No nothing. Just cancel. Now, if it had said "Yes" or "OK".... |
|
Wow, I'm glad I had my 3D glasses on! That ATM looks like it's coming right at me!
|
Do you sure the white rabbit is not fake? |
Go ask Alice... I think she'll know. |
|
Damn you, designers who use Yes/No/Cancel dialogs inappropriately!
|
It can be read to be asking whether you want to "perform a busy search" or "edit the item" before you continue, but those are not options presented. My guess is that the way it is set up, the options are: Yes = I want to edit the item or do a busy search before rescheduling No = Just reschedule Cancel = Never mind, don't reschedule Maybe if it said, "Do you want to either perform a busy search or edit the item before rescheduling?" it would make more sense. Still wouldn't make "a busy search" sound less silly, though. |
Must have gotten paid, he retired. |

Considering the subject matter, I think the correct structure grammar "is more gooder" rather than "is much better" |
GIF? What's that? Oh... I think they mentioned that on the history channel once. Something about a file format from more than ten years ago, and very limited. Now PNGs... They actually work (assuming your browser isn't broken). |

Yeah, when will people learn? JPEG is a PHOTO format, also acceptable for screenshots from most 3D games, or any image that involves a lot of gradients and few sharp details. It handles gradients impressively well but text REALLY BADLY, to the point of near-unreadability in some cases. PNG is a relatively new format, which handles most kinds of static image well. For photo's you'll generally get a smaller file by using JPEG, but PNG is great for program screenshots or generally any image with sharp high-contrast details like text. GIF is an old format, previously mostly used for animated images on the web but now mostly superseded by flash for that purpose, or high-contrast images like text, though mostly superseded by PNG for that. Limited palette means it's bad for anything with more than a little colour in it. Don't use GIF! |
Good to see Mr Al Fayed has found another outlet for his alternate reality. |

How the fick can a well-thinking programmer ask a question with an "OR" in it in a confirm dialog ffs??!
