    The Poop... of DOOM!:
Now I'm not big on chemistry and such, but titanium dioxide doesn't sound edible...
It's not so bad, according to wackypeedear: "Titanium dioxide, also known as titanium (IV) oxide or titania, is the naturally occurring oxide of titanium, chemical formula TiO2. When used as a pigment, it is called titanium white, Pigment White 6, or CI 77891. It has a wide range of applications, from paint to sunscreen to food colouring. When used as a food colouring, it has E number E171."

Could it be that the Uniden device has an internal list of various known phone scams? That would be very very far indeed from being a WTF if that were so.

Yeah, just saw it too. That article also features this sentence:
Titanium dioxide is incompatible with strong oxidizers and strong acids
Nice to combine it with phosphoric acid then (then again, I'm not a chemist, so what do I know?)

Also, if you google for titanium dioxide, the first result is the Wikipedia article. The next 3 results: "natural organic make-up - Titanium Dioxide: Toxic or Safe?" "Titanium dioxide in vitamins and supplements: Is it safe for human consumption?" "Titanium Dioxide Classified as Possibly Carcinogenic to Humans"

I'm not entirely at ease with the healthier living from that cookie...

    I know who they are.

Kutta Srinivasan After getting a B.S. degree from Caltech, Kutta decided that making video games for a living was probably the next best thing to playing them all day in his dorm room. He joined Microsoft at age 19 and worked on Xbox and Xbox 360 games (Gears of War, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, Crackdown, Fable 2). There was also a stint in there with the DirectX team working on DirectX 9 & 10 shader technologies. Now Kutta's a systems and game programmer at Valve, working on whatever happens to strike his fancy. When he's not coding, sleeping, or cooking, Kutta spends his time climbing rocks, riding bikes, and snowboarding off things that he really ought not to.

Mike Morasky Morasky's life and career sounds a lot like one of the post-modern audio collages he is so fond of creating. Teenage guitar player in a bar band in Montana; award-winning experimental composer in Tokyo; audio hardware programmer in Silicon Valley; underground art rocker touring the world; 3D animator and director for television; electronic audio collage artist in France and Japan; visual fx artist on The Lord of the Rings and Matrix trilogies; AI animation instructor at an art college. These days, Mike is doing some combination of all these things at Valve.

Yes, but we have thousands of years of experience with what are called "natural" ingredients, as opposed to only about a hundred with "artificial" ingredients. The testing that's done on the "artificial" ingredients is basically just enough to establish that they won't kill you right away.

All "Artificial Colouring" is to put the colours they want it to look not what processed/blended material comes out of the tube without it looks like. It does not mean it is synthetic as in a combination necessarily only made by man not normally found in nature.

That is an actual caller ID. I've gotten it myself and google confirms others have too. I don't know who managed to set that (I doubt it was the "owner" of the number who did), but it is certainly one of the most helpful I've seen. If you answer, it should offer to lower your interest rate on your credit card (they don't ever mention which card of course, but they'll be happy to phish for one if you try to take them up on it.)
