The healthcare one is necessary because things like public terminals and internet cafes exist, or one might use the internet connection of a friend, etc. D'oh.

No, The Real WTF™ about that is a) users of e.g. Opera and Safari are once again forced to lie about their browser, and b) they expect John Doe to know which kind of encryption schemes his browser supports...

I mean WHY does it not like double quotes?
could it be that it is their (horrible) way of avoiding SQL injection I wonder?

Mission: Not Possible!

OPENING SCENE

CU Phone displaying "Not Possible!"

Phelps answers phone

We have invoked Protocol M. Your mission if you should choose to accept it is to pose as a student working at workforstudents.com. There you will make 13.65 per hour replacing double quotes with single quotes. You must gain access to the internet and steal their 128 bit encryption. You have been given a box of frubes. If you are discovered you will swallow them and die. This phone will self destruct in 5 seconds.

In the first scene we see putting price tags on a copy maching, removing the copies and putting them on a wooden table. As you pick up a digital camera to take a picture of what you just photocopied, irish girl walks by wearing spandex.

Jay here - you aren't lying. Since we've been "upgraded" and put on "top-end" hardware Footprints has managed to get slower and slower. My favorite is when it times out completely but only on the top and left frames*, leaving me with a 404 on one side of the screen and tickets still showing up on the main frame. And reloading the entire page doesn't fix anything - no, you have to log completely out, log back in, wait for it to crank and authenticate, then you can get back in. And their licensing is so expensive. I can't wait to move on eventually.

*Seriously, who uses frames in web-based applications anymore? Sheesh!

I'm not normally a spelling nazi, but yogurt does not have an 'e' anywhere in it. This can also lead to the assumption that the 'gurt' in GoGurt does not have an 'e' in it either. It's making my head hurt to see that misspelled word quoted over and over again...

I dunno about Crash Magnet, but I still don't want to eat one.

The idea of a chunky viscous liquid oozing (or worse, rushing) out of a soft flexible tube brings to the mind vague images of ... and then to top it all off, I'm supposed to aim it towards my mouth.

Suddenly my lunch isn't as interesting as it once was.

Of course, even if you don't know the real spelling, it takes all of about 7 seconds to find "gogHurt" on the webs. For some reason, I think it was originally a brand name, but I don't want to spend another 20 second to find out for sure. Normally, I wouldn't be so pithy, but all the sidebar links give a completely blank page, so I am in a bad mood.

No, it's not. And no, it isn't, and no.

It's actually labelled 'Petits Filous', which is a French term meaning 'little rascals'. It is the brand name of a kind of fromage frais (which is also a French term, and the product is similar to yoghurt).

I like this new shaw.ca method of distributed computing. I have applied it to my next project:

function GetFutureValue(principal, yearlyInterestRate, periods, frequencyPerYear)
{
// Determine effective interest rate
effectiveInterestRate = prompt("What is " + yearlyInterestRate + " divided by " + frequencyPerYear + "?");

// Determine the base
base = prompt("What is 1 plus " + effectiveInterestRate + "?");

// Determine multiplier
multiplier = prompt("What is " + base + " raised to the power of " + periods + "?");

// Determine future value
futureValue = prompt("What is " + principal + " times " + multiplier + "?");

// Done
return futureValue;
}

Works for all data types: integers, rational, irrational & imaginary numbers, as well as strings, lists, arrays, files & other objects, and even functions! Way to go shaw.ca!
