    Um…Frist.

Why is this here so early?

I suppose I'll just guess what the article title is about. I'm guessing it's an Error'd.

Those devious hackers, passing NULL to printf. Haha. Or maybe it's appearing on a website? Yeah I'll lock in that answer Eddie.

Why guessing when you can just click the article link in Paula’s post and get there?

Yeah, I read it. But I wanted to take a guess before I did.

Welcome to discourse - this is how articles always get posted. There is the early bird special for all the cool cats who used the DiscoverabilityTM of Discourse to get early info on articles, and then the regular release for regular people.

    Welcome to the bleeding edge.

This really takes the fun out of "Frist", no?

...that would be null and improved = nullEnhanced

  • (disco)

I like how the article is not only Nulltastic! but SEXY as well.

  • (disco)

This topic seems to be visible. Why didn't @PaulaBean tell us?

I KNEW it was going to be a problem when Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails) named his record label "The Null Corporation"

    Just a SEXY placeholder.

EDIT: Or more like a script abuse on the front page.

  • (disco)

The in-the-millions error line in javascript is not uncommon. It simply means the piece of script was dynamically added to the document somehow and does not actually have a real line number.

Sounds like it uses -1 for 'not a line number' and then it gets treated as a uint32_t (aka DWORD) when printed. Oops!

Erm, maybe I'm just being dumb or not seeing something blindingly obvious but I can't find any references to "sexy" anywhere in the article so why are there posts like these both here and on Discrap?

    Insert your %ws now.

Are we not doing "That's what she said!" jokes any more?

    She did. It was deleted:

    Did you notify her?

  • (disco) in reply to aliceif

I didn't delete it - and there's no record of who did.

A month ago when I was flying back from TI4, AA informed me 30 minutes before my connecting flight left that I could find my baggage at baggage claim November-Uniform-Lima-Lima. How nice of them to let me know my baggage was lost already

At least when we landed they gave me the right number.

She said "insert your wide string."

not to be confused with smellystring, the handle of the guy who wrote about a 4kb "hard drive' in minecraft. (It's actually more like a tape drive.)

Some commenters found an XSS security hole on the main page, but it has been fixed in the meantime.

(And looking at the title of the linked comment you can see exactly how that exploit worked).

So "The UPS Store" asks James to "SIGN UP FOR OUR EMAIL PROGRAM TODAY" and to do that he has to enter Email Address...

Doesn't the pure existence of an email adress indicate that James defintely already has an EMAIL PROGRAM?

The ratings might be for the MP3 versions that actually exist.

Surely a more suitable screenshot of a task host window would be one where the only program blocking shutdown is the task host window. Too bad I didn't know at the time that the task host window can be screenshot and then cancelled, so I could have shot it.

A few days ago I got one with an empty list in the task host window. I have a screenshot of that. But the labels on my desktop icons are readable (dark on dark but still decipherable). If I censor the labels the screenshot won't look genuine. Oh well.
