Comment On Submit WTF Code Directly From Your IDE

At the day job, I spend the majority of my time working on BuildMaster. While I certainly find it more exciting than the Big Boring Business App at Mega Financial Co, the structure is similar: there are a number of modules, different teams are responsible for different modules, and about the only change in scenery is working on a different module. Why would you develop VB in Eclipse???

A colleague of mine asked me if you could take all of the code examples in thedailywtf and build something that works.
I responded by telling him that you could build something and call it a WTFramework.

Maybe you can get it through Change Control by calling it an enhancement to simplify requests for code reviews.

I like the "Please Don't Publish" option. Sometimes it's just easier to sleep at night knowing that you did the right thing and sent that trashy code where it belongs, even if nobody knows it.

Hmm. No WSDL. I was considering trying out wdsl2objc and making an Xcode plug-in, just so you could all experience the glory of cleaning up for a Flash designer-turned-iPhone developer.

I'm just going to install this, open up a random project from my predecessor, hit ctrl+a and then hit submit. That should give Alex a ton of usable material for the future.

Thats quite the scotch selection. Now if you had a vodka or tequilla selection, I'd have grabbed my fiance, faxed you my resume and cover letter and up and moved to a cardboard box in the street outside Inedo. My fiance is a licensed bartender here in Massachusetts.

Perhaps I'm reading things too literally, but I take exception to the idea of asking developers to work outside normal hours. There's more to life than programming. Try going for a rugged mountain hike or something.

There are a few "other" spirits, but those are mostly for mixing and the occasional random project.

There seems to be a movement to start a Cognac Library (I think I saw like 6 varieties at one point), but I suspect that's because we've run out of new variety of Scotch to buy locally (weird Ohio liquor laws, no special order, etc).

The form doesn't really have the "pic on wooden table" look when it casts a drop shadow on the table.

Unless it's meant to be hovering paper...

I was thinking the same - also, the "paper" is too clean and white. Needs a texture.

I actually went to the src browser, and I'm getting a seriously fucked up view of svn/trunk/SubmitToWTF/connect.cs. It looks like after each character another nonsense character was inserted after it.

Are you trying to get on your own website, because for me this was more of a WTF that today's TDWTF.

I have no idea.... it's hosted on Google Code. Everything seems to work fine for me: pulling directly via SVN, exporting from SVN, and browsing over the web.

Not really sure what your getting at here? grabbed my fiance means we would have up and moved.

Most of my friends would refer to me as a vodka snob. I would recommend russian standards imperia vodka. Its got a quick kick that goes away in about a half a second and changes to a smooth after taste. It is my after work shot of choice. I also tend to drink mostly mixed drinks like greatful deads.

At my current job booze is completly off the table. Your lucky if you get a plastic bic pen with the company logo after 10 years. Our budget is mandated by the state right down to the salaries. :(

The shadow is created by all the previous versions of this code in the repository. Including management review and The Change Control Board, I am quite sure this application had at least 50 revisions. Remember, the process is more important than the product.
