Agreed, wtf is the wtf? |
What compression to use with the UPS form? Tinyurl of course...
That is simply SinTACTicly wrong!!! |
They ask for as much detail as possible and then only give you 255 characters to do it. |
Uh oh. Death and taxes. Blue screen of sin tax.
Whoever put that poll together definitely gave 110% effort.
Perhaps they mean 255 different characters.

And it should be: ?Sintax Error READY. :) |

WTF is with the XML checkboxes?
Are they expecting us to fill in our own XML? |
Do you wish to (A)bsolve or (R)epent? |
It's my bosses fault! He told me quite clearly to make 110% sure i got the numbers right this time!

I'll pay my taxes for sinning in my afterlife.

Please select an answer.
* IS THIS A GOOD COMMENT? - Yes |
No, it's the dedicated voters that are giving 110%. |
Those "XML" checkboxes looked a little WTFy to me. |
Who cares what their WTF is?!?! They have quantum viewing!!
I'm also working on UPS shipping integration at work (oh man, is it ever a pain in the ass) and I had the exact same problem that Scott did.
I would bet they just made up those poll numbers.
Proof that there are lies, damn lies and statistics!

84% of all statistics are made up. It's true! |

I like how the Late Penalty Tax Return Notice says "I did not receive your tax report by the due date" and not "You did not file your tax return" as we'd get in America. It makes it more personal and makes it sound like it isn't accusing him of being negligent (it still is, but we all know it's not what you say but how you say it).

Within the minimal space of 255 characters afforded me by the arbitrary restriction on the size of input in this field, the most detail that I could possibly provide regarding my request or question would be that this box is not long enough to contain it!

Looks like that's what MS thought the spec was for the disk cleanup wizard :). |
Look, this one is easy to work out:
Am I the only one who remembers how to do long subtraction by hand these days?
I hope this clears everything up. |
When it comes to sin, I generally give 110% as well.
I got the )*..(^ thing today as well. It's to do with installing IE8, it's messed it up completely.
It was a clue. Scott should have used XML compression on the text field. As we all know, in the best cases, representing data in XML format can compress it to as little as twenty or thirty times its original size. |

"Our viewership gives 110% when it comes to polls. And we thank you."
(CAPTCHA doesn't prove i'm not a robot - it makes me a robot.) |

Everybody knows that 100-60 is 40.
If it works on the first digit it'll work on the second digit. |

On the plus side, look at all the new traffic they're getting! Everyone is a first time visitor!

).**O)**' in Temporary Internet Files? That's even more pr0n than I have on my machine!

TLDR |
Was that TV poll taken in Minnesota?
It's more likely than you think! |
Tax assessment notice:
I certainly hope that you sent them a check for ZERO, along with a copy of the invoice. (These kind of screw-ups always make me wonder if they are actually expecting a payment, but just got the amount wrong...and later they will be coming after me .) |
How good are your math skills?
Good: 66% Not good: 44% |
Obviously with the poll people are taking to heart the advice to "Vote early, vote often."
66
+44 ------- 10 * 10 ------- 100%!!! I don't see the wtf... |
Of course any publicly accessible URL would do if you cannot fit your text in 255 characters
And the disk cleanup screen, I recognize that error from a program I wrote in the past that I was not thinking of negative numbers, and then it displayed negative numbers like that, but I thought non-embedded devices would have libraries for dealing with it properly already, and if it is in fact an error with negative numbers, I'm not sure why it would have negative numbers anyways (too small number size maybe?) And the one that you can select only Yes and not the other answer, what I would do first is check the value for each option that is returned to the server and see if changing that value fixes anything |
Didn't you know that about 92% of all statistics are invented on the spot?
The rest 18% are in fact genuine. |
I see silly people |
I'm not sure the tax penalty would still be a WTF if the rest of the page was shown. The penalty is normally £100, but it cannot exceed the amount of tax owed, so if you filed late saying you were due a tax refund, the penalty would be zero. The rest of the page might detail this.
The Disk Cleanup one is just plain bizarre.
The nonsense text in the 'Temporary Internet Files' is a bug, OK. They can happen (I'm not sure how, but anyway). What gets me is how it does arithmetic on that nonsense to produce 2 more nonsense strings as well. The only thing I can think is that instead of using 64 bit integer arithmetic, they have a strange long number implementation using character strings which is just weird. If they were doing plain integer arithmetic with the nonsense text I could see it displaying incorrect numerical answers as the totals, but not more nonsense text. |
