MIT is in Cambridge, so I'd imagine that's very likely.

Yes, a capacity of one microfarad is a millionth of a farad. What this means in terms of temperature is another matter, though...

Yes, but it is common for electronics usage. If you had a 1 F capacitor, it would hold a monster charge, and be fun to tase people with.

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

If a man speaks, and there is no woman there to hear, is he still wrong?

Well, a farad is LOTS. 17 microfarads at 230V can give a nasty shock already.

Not really, it's just that farads are really, really big.

I remember seeing a cartoon a long time ago where the caption was "I have the 6-farad capacitor you ordered". The picture showed a truck driver at the front door of the house and the tractor-trailer parked on the street towing a capacitor that was bigger than the house.

I like the fact that even in XP SP2 many, many Windows dialog boxes don't let you resize, so it's impossible to determine where a mapped drive letter point...

16 microfarads seems a bit low. I think in a thunderstorm the earth-cloud gap has about 2 farads.

Don't forget your sunscreen, it's going to be 16 microfarads today.

But it will only feel like -5 microfarads so won't be unbearable.

I was heading to the bathroom for my daily irish ritual.
