I still maintain that it's too soon, but I didn't appreciate the irony (I didn't know that was Greyhound's slogan prior to the incident).

I'll admit this is pretty clever.

Crude , Politically incorrect & totally inappropriate!

I like it! Don't know if it's too soon, but it made me laugh(Although I could be a sicko or something)

+ I've learn something new about the Greyhound's slogan!

A young man was brutally attacked on a bus in Canada. He was stabbed multiple times with a large rambo knife and then beheaded. A truly tragic case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Here you see a comical satire of this event, complete with laughing audience.

No empathy for strangers in this world I guess. It's despicable.

All the replies so far match up to the facial expressions of people in the final panel of the comic.

I did consider having the Viking dude saying "What? Too soon?" in the last panel....

For the record, I do feel bad for those involved. It was a very unexpected and disturbing incident that really should never have happened.

People deal with horrible events in different ways. One natural reaction is to trivialise their effect by joking about them. Please don't presume to tell others how they should be affected.

Forced public grieving got old years ago (re: Princess Diana).

The problem of Comic Sans is that people use it in ways not intended originally, i.e. not in comic strips. Replacing it with capital-lettered Arial in comics isn't going to help much.

"What? Too soon?" would have definitely been the real punch-line, though it's still funny as is.

The reason it's funny, for those that have taken offense, is a little thing called irony. It has nothing to do with demeaning a victim or their family... which certainly would not qualify as funny.

As for it really being too soon, grief has no explicit shelf-life. If it's funny in two years it's funny now. It's a sick joke, no question, but I don't personally feel it crosses the line of being untactful. One can simultaneously see the humor here and still have genuine sympathy for those affected by a tragic event.
  • bitblit 2008-08-13 09:28

According to your logic, I can presume what I like and react any way I please. And you're a hypocrite.
