"Isn't anyone at Microsoft doing QC anymore?"

so, everything is as we would expect from MS

What worries me about the flight screen is it's 80000001 ft in the air. That looks an awful lot like someone got an error value (code -2) and just stuffed it into an unsigned int and displayed it anyway. Except that would be 0x80000001, and the height is displayed in decimal... right?
    You fail 2's complement forever.
Right, code -2 is FFFFFFFE, I need coffee. But it's common to see error codes as 80xxxxxx.

Steve Dilley wonders, "Isn't anyone at Microsoft doing QC anymore?"

IE10 gives a blank page when you click "find out more" in Windows Update to enable MS Update...

I think the real question isn't whether anyone at MS does QC, but perhaps if anyone involved with Internet Explorer does QC.

Edit: For those playing at home, the page does show correctly once you enable compatibility mode, and will show OK (won't work though) in other browsers.

If this link was seen somewhere on the site, OK that is interesting, but you haven't linked to any page displaying that link so... I'm calling it: Not a WTF, you enter random URLs on a site, you get strange behaviour and that is OK
If you enter a random URL the website should serve a 404 error page, and if the locale is not found, it should fall back to a reasonable default.

That's AWESOME!!! Besides me, who else read this as 'penis land'???
It's a very old joke indeed. Except it's technically not a joke because there really is a site www.penisland.net (not com) except it's unresponsive at the moment.
Hurray, the one in .gov has finally been forgotten!

    Oops.

Microsoft does QC for some issues, but their choices seem to be rather random. Things like loss of data, which would have been considered show stoppers before the Microsoft era, get ignored or scorned in Microsoft.

That's why they sell it for 39.97! Bargain!

  • Talis (unregistered)

Obviously, the $72.38 are for the fantastic Civ V, which can't be bought individually anymore and hence is not in the equation. And it's a joy to take the whole package just to have this wonderful game!

Concerning the "backwards-flying plane": As it seems to have just taken off in Brisbane(?), I assume that only the take-off was in direction south-west. The plane probably turned around a few minutes later.

+1!! (for attempting to use QC and Microsoft in the same sentence)

    +1^100

That made me piss myself laughing - and I assume you meant it.

Might be me, but it looks like that planes gone a fair way from the dot - further than you'd expect before they turn around.

That said, it looks like a pretty big plane - I reckon it would let wou go Sydney to Canberra just by climbing in the front door and walking to the back.

I was just guessing that they have one image of a plane just flying in that direction, so the map doesn't actually indicate which direction the plane is flying in other than showing the planned route.

It says air temperature. Any air out there ?
