Paula Bean would be a genius guest speaker...

Just kidding. Best of luck, though!

A guy I worked with last year managed to create a DLL hell dependency nightmare using Nuget and a local repository for the enterprise. The idea sounded good in principle, and management defended him. Right up until we tried to deploy to a test environment and started running into problems with having multiple versions of the DLLs.

He was a really smart guy. It takes a genius to make a super enterprisey WTF.

TRWTF is assuming that all spouses are women.

How about the missus (or missis?) instead of the misses?

It sounds like someone who used to work for us. He managed to create a system that was a frankensteinian combination of Maven and OSGi that was of such complexity that we've been stuck with shipping a DLL hell (well, JAR version hell but the difference is slight) with one of our flagship products for years. It's nasty enough that I refuse to integrate with the code in question any more closely than calling it as a subprocess (a PITA in Java, but far nicer than the morass of this custom package manager/boot class loader/general disaster). The amusing thing is that it turns out that my workaround is actually a good architecture anyway; we'll be keeping it even after codethulhu's kid brother is purged later this year.

I'm too sober to mention the name of this disaster in a public forum.

Right, because some of us live where gay marriage is legal.

That's actually irrelevant: a "spouse" is a husband or wife.

So my husband is my spouse. Are you trolling, or what are you trying to say?

three days of sessions, networking, and all sorts of other exciting things for .NET developers.
Sounds like an awful lot of hubbub for something that is, after all, just a Microsoft product.

Are you trying to tell me there are female programmers... on the net... NO WAY!

I don't think they were trying to imply that all programmers are men and they would be getting away from the Misses/us/is. I think they were just trying to appeal to the idea that many men, after getting married, tend to do more extra curricular activities more often so that they can spend a little time away from their wives, and that if the missesusis were to be attending the conference, then their husbands would also want to go as well. Or possibly get dragged along.

I don't know how much sense that made but it works in my head.
