I would say that this is some kind of fake. Why the hell the would update the image to include DailyWTF?
Because the have a sense of humour? Because they knew it would cause even more buzz amongst readers of TDWTF?

Besides, they obviously figured that the TDWTF there already served its purpose and removed it.

  • captain obvious (unregistered)

they recognised this post and added a dailywtf button to the taskbar!

    FI7TSSS!

  • (cs)

Hey, they've added a TDWTF window too. And forgotten to remove the NSFW!

    So, that the steps:

    1. Some company places "thedailywtf" in their site
    2. Alex REMOVES tab from screenshot, saving as JPG
    3. Aware of thumbnail of original image, he's making PNG
    4. AD is placed at beginning of the post
    5. ???
    6. Profit!

WTF is wrong with all the 10,000 people who keep posting the same thing? Do they seriously go to the website, see the new image, and then think "hey, I haven't read a single comment yet, but I bet that no one could have possibly noticed or posted about this yet! I'm sure I'll be the first!"?

    They are pioneers.

Haha, just saw the DWTF when showing it to a co-worker! Great stuff :D

Just in case anyone was worried about the content of the site, it seems to render fairly well in my browser.

Possibly when their traffic shot up twentyfold and they noticed the referer field in their server logs / web stats suddenly jumped a huge spike to 100% of visitors coming from tdwtf?

Either that or maybe your insane groundless non-evidentiary paranoid delusional conspiracy theory is right. But if it is, I'm leaving the universe, and I want my money back, because it's not working right!

Haha I work at Naughty America (the company who makes MFST), this is great

So if you work there, what exactly do you do there? I'm guessing it actually really sucks in real life.

I'm the R&D Director, working on a new Adobe AIR project called Naughty America Direct (http://nadirect.com)

    Wait...

Let me get this straight. You do Research and Development... FOR PORN?

    My job sucks...

Scratch that, my LIFE sucks :(

Haha yeah it is pretty rad

  • tscherno (unregistered) in reply to JDeepBeep

Dont you realize? This is a genius marketing trick :P

  • Jason (unregistered) in reply to Jarin Udom

Yes, I also work for Naughty America (dot commmmmm) as the Dir. of Technology ;-)

I would agree with Jarin that we for sure have the most kick-ass tech jobs around!

  • indyHarcourt (unregistered) in reply to matt

If you follow the link, though, the minimized browser title is something called "thedailywtf".

Something funny's going on here, Alex.

  • Echilon (unregistered)

There is no way that's accidental.

  • Manel! (unregistered)

Wow, looks that the mysexyteacher.com thing was on purpose. How else now is appearing a fourth box, displaying thedailywtf.com?? Maybe is just viral marketing, or to make fun anyway. Nice web (this one), visit it frequently! :P

  • Miss.Murder (unregistered) in reply to Manel!

Oh my goodness. I feel like smashing my head on the desk. I wish people would start reading the previous comments and realize that they are not telling us new information. WE KNOW THEY HAD TDWTF.COM SHOWING ON THERE. WE KNOW THEY HAVE A SEX SITE ON THERE. WE KNOW IT ALL. STOP MAKING THE SAME DAMN COMMENTS.

  • Zarggg (unregistered) in reply to JDeepBeep

I'm sure they added that as a RESPONSE to it being posted here.

  • (cs)

I find the number of employees of the porn company who also read this site to be the amusing thing!

How is it that these people don't come out of the woodwork earlier? And really, surely there's lots of WTFs in porn site management to post about? The people demand WTFs!

  • Stefan (unregistered) in reply to JDeepBeep

It's a viral, no question about it..

  • fade (unregistered) in reply to belgariontheking

yeah, and very strange that the actual site has a link in the same toolbar for www.dailywtf.com....but it's not present on the screen cap here. hmmm, methinks a sneeky bit of marketing is afoot.

Alas, this post won't help, because people will post their new findings before they read as far as your post. You said it all in vain. Poor you -- and poor me!

    Resistance is futile!

  • Ian Hawdon (unregistered) in reply to jtl

    Yeah, I noticed that! :-S

  • Twey (unregistered) in reply to Yanman

Definitely brilliant. OrangeLabel++ — that's earned them quite some respect in my book :-P

Interesting to note: the title of the section directly underneath the MyFirstSexTeacher taskbar entry is 'THE TRUTH OF LIFE'...

  • sceptic (unregistered)

Some non-conventional advertising (viral?) that the dailywtf just provided a channel and audience for...

  • (cs) in reply to sceptic

sigh People who don't read the previous comments before throwing in their two cents irk me as well. Especially the ones where they've used CAPS and loads of !!!!!!!. It's sad actually.

Or the ones which start off "Don't know if you guys have noticed, but..."

The world could be engulfed in a great ball of searing flames and they'd be sitting on the net typing: "Hey guys, the weirdest thing just happened... I'm sure no one else has realised yet..."

  • Jochen (unregistered)

Really: that's a smart marketing strategy. Their Intention was surely to make people talk about heir advertising. Mission completed.

  • (cs)

Hahahaha, they've now added TDWTF to the task bar!

    Check it out guys!

  • Bob (unregistered)

Hey, has anyone noticed if you go the page now they have a new tab in the taskbar.....

Sorry, not funny. Seriously though, OrangeLabel just scored a whole heap of targeted advertising at our expense. Kudos to them for that, but surely they must realise that any retard can draw a 16x16 pixel image. And we are retards with CS degrees no less. How much business do they seriously think is coming their way?

  • Colonel Sharp (unregistered) in reply to StickyWidget

Yea, I just saw that, lol, but apparently they don't mind still having the sex teacher site up there!

  • ajiau (unregistered) in reply to JDeepBeep

Good to see they have a sense of humor. I guess the original WTF was probably on purpose...?

  • return of the spelling nazi (unregistered)

    bananas in pajamas! aaaah!

  • Steve Boyko (unregistered)

I was wondering if the Orange Label site had been hacked, so I ran it through Google to see if the malware warning came up. It didn't, but the search result for the "dailywtf" page was interesting:

    Warning: mysql_select_db() [function.mysql-select-db]: Can't ...Warning: mysql_select_db() [function.mysql-select-db]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (11) in ... www.orangelabel.com/icons.htm - 20k - Cached - Similar pages - Note this More results from www.orangelabel.com »

  • msniner (unregistered)

At least it wasn't literally written as: CONGRATULATIONS! text placeholder for winners/losers alike leading to a pay-before-claim price. :-/

  • Joe Butler (unregistered)

They've been hacked. Look at the bottom of their http://www.orangelabel.com/cms.htm page. See if there's something up.

And take a guess at what their login page might be.

  • Dave G. (unregistered)

    Hey guys,

They added a window showing thedailywtf.com next to the first one. Sorry if anyone mentioned this already.

If you're using computers, you should not get overexcited so easily, Stephen. Just check on Google Groups how often programmers ask questions such as, "How do I kill the whole family?"
  • rom (unregistered) in reply to jtl

Actually it's quite obvious the original image posted here is not genuine. Look close, task bar has been photoshopped (no jpeg artifacts on the grey rectangle).

at this point, it's just a photoshop disastered advertisment, manipulated information.
