    Microsoft Excel killed my baby!

  • (cs)

If you don't have a child in the house, it would say, "The Rabbit died!"

  • (cs)

TRWTF is that the "Don't panic" is not written in large friendly letters.

  • Me (unregistered)

I think don't panic is just a hitchhikers joke rather than a WTF.

  • Me (unregistered)

OH CRAP. I didn't notice the MyFirstSexTeacher link, I just thought the icon sucked.

  • skin256 (unregistered)

The Dingo ate my baby, but it was doing a spreadsheet in Excel while in a panicked state in +200 degree temperatures.

  • Me (unregistered)

Also - MyFirstSexTeacher is above "The Truth Of Life". APT

and its still on the site http://www.orangelabel.com/icons.htm

    Oooops.

Orange is a truly dedicated team of iconists. They're willing to complete their work under any weather conditions. I don't know many other design teams making that promise.

I think vsftpd killed a lot more children than anyone else for me.

Oh my god. They're surfing porn with Internet Explorer.

    It's censored like porn.

After seeing the above comparison, I'm going to have to switch to Windows.

  • (cs)

I suppose it could have been worse...

    MeAndBessieTheCow.ork

    or perhaps...

    MyFirstBarnyardSexTeacher.com

  • Me (unregistered)

I didn't see that: It isn't Microsoft SQL Server - they want to run a CMS on ACCESS!

Maybe they will be returning to error'd.

  • Anon (unregistered)

TRWTF is the lack of recognition of an obvious HGttG joke...

    RIP Douglas Adams

[image] Indeed. They certainly have the experience.
  • Stephen Gallagher (unregistered)

Interesting to note also that they clearly touched up that icon ad: look at the icon size. 7,18KB? Even if I assume that this is a European number, when have you ever seen an icon hot-tip that didn't use whole-number filesizes?

Tits and ass apparently. Who needs a head?

  • is that my computer? (unregistered)

Looking at the screenshot, and coupled with the many hours as a young teen on the internet, I bet the image open in ACDSee is porn too :D

  • (cs)

It's really just a subtle advertisement for myfirstsexteacher.com. After all, we all know that only perverts would purchase an icon on the internet! What can they say? they know their customers

  • Akoi Meexx (unregistered)

If I were the guy in charge of published content at that icon gallery, I'd fire the person responsible for a blunder like that.

looks like a good way to create the buzz... I never heard about that company before, and like they say, they know what attract their customers. Is it really a WTF when it is done on purpose ?

I'm sure it's not F:!!!!pron.jpg they're looking at in ACDSee...

The link here is a nofollow, although I did speak to them and they haven't changed it since.

They list an address on Kensington High Street in London, and today is a holiday in the UK. They probably won't have anyone in the office to fix this until tomorrow (if it isn't some sort of clever guerilla marketing gimmick).

The nofollow only gives that the Daily doesn't, say, receive affiliate money for linking to it. It doesn't follow that the website in question did not intentionally put that on their screenshot in order to end up, for instance, at pages like this one.

  • shalafi (unregistered) in reply to Me

I agree, it looks like a reference to the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy

  • Zone Customer (unregistered) in reply to Me

Is it a coincidence that the "Customer Zone" is perfectly aligned with the lower half of the orange bikini?

    Captcha: eros

You can't make this stuff up!

  • Tobermory (unregistered) in reply to Akoi Meexx

For a design company, they sure have messed up getting the tooltip to follow the contour of the book. The antialiasing on the Illustrator and IE links is pants too. Looks like either the site's been compromised or some enterprising scamp has changed the image after the designer went home.

  • Katie (unregistered)

    The real WTF:

Message shoud have read "Kitten died".

Every time you use Microsoft Expression Web god kills a kitten.

  • (cs)

I could see a creative marketing argument to say that they're showing you what the icons will look like on your customer's desktop....

  • Niels (unregistered)

I'm pretty sure the "DON'T PANIC!" is from Aegisub, a program I'm co-author of. Yes, it is indeed a reference to THGTTG. (I didn't put it there though.)

TRWTF is that it wasn't part of the source code for Aegisub that was posted, there's much more "interesting" constructs there ;)

Some Search Engines ignore it for ranking.

For whoever said it was a holiday in the UK - I know, I live in London. Well done for joining the Americans in assuming everyone lives there.

I spoke to someone about it, so there's someone somewhere.

Can't believe no one has mentioned the whole right-justified thing for the orange site

    Shouldn't it be:

    Which is much more funny.

It's funny how the asterisk note for the "*CALL" stars (?), at the bottom right says "Bicycle Cooking Product", and the symbol for "love" is written on the leftmost page, and the karate dude at the right has his suit worn right-over-left, just like they dress dead people in Japan...

Who would have thought flying laptops had anything to do with all that...

  • Jamie (unregistered)

    The ACDSee shows "F:!!!!pro"..

    suspicious ;)))

  • JW (unregistered)

WTF! They added another taskbar item pointing to the Daily WTF! Is this some hoax, or an extreme form of viral advertising or what?

  • Yanman (unregistered)

    http://www.orangelabel.com/icons.htm

They just added thedailywtf.com to the task bar. TRWTF? or Brillant!?

  • Anon (unregistered)

    It's been updated http://www.orangelabel.com/icons.htm

  • Balau (unregistered)

thedailywtf.com joined the NSFW site in the home page.

  • (cs)

FYI: The guys at OrangeLabel.com apparently read the dailyWTF, because the splash ad now has "thedailywtf.com" opened in IE next to "MyFirstSexTeacher".
