If at first you don’t succeed, call it version 1.0

Isn't 1.0 the Minimally Viable Product version?

  • (disco)

I do like that easter egg. Would never do anything like that in my own code, but it's still neat.

I like how the 2 errors that come up are contradictory:

It tells you 2 arguments max, then gives instructions that use THREE arguments...

  • (disco) in reply to redwizard

You appear to be lacking reading comprehension.

puppet help only takes two (optional) arguments.

IOW, a valid puppet help would look like this: puppet help (arg1) (arg2) An example would be: puppet help help help

It says: Puppet help (as in using 'Puppet' for help) Not: 'Puppet help' (as in The Command Is 'Puppet Help')

    YMMV.

Dwarf Fortress lets you open the help viewer from itself a few times.

I think the Grammaticist's Interpretation (TM) is:

Puppet requires one argument and accepts up to two additional optional arguments.

Thus % puppet help % puppet help me % puppet help me Beatles are all legal, but % puppet help Beatles best movie is not.

    Oh?

    aliceif:
puppet help only takes two (optional) arguments.

Ok, but in the top instance the command is not surrounded by single quotes, while in the bottom instance it is. So is the top line referring to the command, or simply the help feature of Puppet?

BUT OF COURSE IT's REDWIZARD'S READING COMPREHENSION THAT IS AT FAULT, NOT THE DUMBSHIT OPEN SOURCE ASPIE CODER WHO WROTE THAT FUCKING TERRIBLE ERROR MESSAGE.

  • (disco) in reply to blakeyrat

I never said that it was a good error message.

    YOU'RE NOT MY SUPERVISOR!

(No, this post is not empty)

(I have actually used that one on my boss. Along with phrasing)

    blakeyrat:
    FUCKING TERRIBLE ERROR MESSAGE.

The error message was perfectly clear to me, but then we've discussed your lack of comprehension of simple English before, along with your propensity to play dumb.

    blakeyrat:
    ASPIE

Why you gotta pick on disabled people? This isn't the first time you've done this. Stop it.

  • (disco) in reply to another_sam

It's not completely incomprehensible, but it is a pretty shit error message

    @remy:
DevOps, like “the cloud”, and “agile”, is a term everyone uses, but no one can accurately define. I gave Stephanie and Eric a chance to nail the term down.

    Okay, how'd that go?

“DevOps is as much a cultural shift,” Stephanie explains

Ah, they failed right out of the gate.

Eric expands on that alignment. “It’s sharing technology that’s taken for granted on one side of the dev/ops divide and implementing it in a new way["]

In fact, they failed so much they failed recursively.

  • (disco) in reply to blakeyrat
    1. any ambiguity in the first line is resolved by the example given in the second
    2. puppet isn't open source
    3. you aspie
