Some readers see this part of the comment after the username in the article discussion. Write something brief and catchy, compelling them to reply.

    TRWTF is 'computering.'

I don't know why, but seeing your comment, I just had to say something.

    How strange...

Ah, the great Office 32bit vs 64bit inconsistency error, I know you well. Thanks to Microsoft I ended up breaking Word all because Visio wanted to install a 64bit component and that particular error popped up. According to Microsoft, Visio shouldn't even touch Word...don't you just love Microsoft quality.

I now run Ubuntu and Libreoffice. If I need to I can use Office 365 via Firefox too...except that isn't compatible with desktop Office...go figure

The real WTF is more of why we're still using any of this crap

Same reason SAP is still around. Managers, Buzzwords, Sales People combined with technical ineptitude.

Scenes like that make the corners of my eyes twitch and trigger this bizarre internal rage. Do they really think people are that stupid? Then I remember that some people ARE that stupid and I just sigh and go on about my business trying not to think about the future too much.

The Office 32-bit components are part of the 64-bit package to support 32-bit. The name might be confusing (just like System32 and SysWOW64), but it is correct.

I think Nectar Online's avatar is a fitting response to their email.

Not a fan of verbing the noun? :)

The Office dialog looks OK to me. It seems to be telling you that you can't install 32-bit Office because 64-bit Office is already installed.

I'm missing the context, I guess.

  • (nodebb) in reply to Harry Johnston

Exactly! How dumb of the OP! Anybody smart enough knows that "Microsoft Office 32-bit Components 2013" is 64-bit Office.

  • (nodebb) in reply to YellowOnline

Really! I thought I was being sarcastic. Apparently not smart enough by my own definition. Self-destruction in 3 .. 2 .. 1 ..

I like the way Nectar Online's avatar makes it look like a reply of "NO" to the subject line.

Here in Oz we used to have a billionaire with a rep for being 'difficult'... The standard joke went. This is Kerry Packer toilet paper. It's rough and it's tough and it doesn't take sh*t from anyone.

I'm pretty sure you mean NCIS lol.
