<p>Well, it looks fine in the browser, and I like it better with plain text links for login, profile and so on.</p>

<p>Let's see if HTML works the same in the preview and the post.</p>

WTF? I wanted to see if HTML is accepted in posted messages. When it didn't, I tried to edit my post and... my message has been marked as troll.

    ?!?!!?!

Please, put a link to the forums on the front page.

And what happened to the code formatting button?

Oh and that graphical ad does not play nice, it aligns to the right of the first post in a topic, and then causes a big big gap till you reach the second post. There's probably a <br break> between each post

I really like how we can edit our posts now! Big Smile [:D] and the preview options is also very cool.

Regarding the big banner ad that messes up the layout.  If you're using Firefox, right-click and select "Block images from ".  This will stop the ad from loading and messing with your layout.  If you're using IE, no doubt there's a way to do it - but frankly, who cares?  Reading the Daily WTF using Internet Explorer is like reading the bible while you have sex with your next-door-neighbour's spouse...

Of course, now if everyone did that, then I'd have a hard time paying the expensive dedicated hosting this hobby site requires ...

I expanded the size of the first post to accomidate the ad -- does it still mess things up?

Certainly messed up in this thread. Mind you there are other, more pressing firefox problems anyway!

Alex - I have a suggestion ... is there any way you can add an option to change the number of posts per page (like 25, 50, 100, no limit)? I'm sure some of us on broadband would like to be able to see all replies on one page...

Good suggestion. That annoys the hell out of me, too. I set the limit to 100. Only a few threads surpass that.

I know one thread here that might soon be over 200 even... :P

The new software seems to be suffering some regression errors:

    1) Emoticons no longer work, Even drag/dropping the emoticons fails.
    2) Occasionally, the editor box in firefox starts acting funny, i.e. the space character doesn't register until another character is entred, This was after pasting some text in the edit box.

This fails to work reasonably, I copied the text above from the message I clicked reply on and get this

"I know one thread here that might soon be over 200 even... :P"

Note the emoticon is now some sort of link.

Sometimes, if pasting, Nothing happens when I hit ctrl-v.

    3) Gave me an error message, even though my post went through. Good thing I checked, or I would have double-posted,

    Bugs found so far:
    0) HTML doesn't work in posts, but does in "post preview".
    1) BBCode style codes are converted to HTML. See above.
    2) Spaces in the "code" BBCode pre-formatting tag are converted to non-breaking-space HTML entities. See #0.
    3) Line breaks don't show up in preview, but do in the final post.
    4) There's a timeout for editing, and it's much too short.
    5) Error messages are nicely uninformative: "Something didn't work out"

Betreft: Re: Thoughts on the New, New Format?

Correction... One topic is now officially over 200 posts and thus needs three pages. It's the most popular topic on this forum, apparantly. And why do I mention this? Big Smile [:D]That's a secret...Stick out tongue [:P]

Maybe this forum needs a special 'Katja' section... Embarrassed [:$]

We need a whole series of Katja forums Stick out tongue [:P]

Ahm... Back to the topic at hand, specifically error messages. Be thankful it *had* error messages. Before it was taken off the beta site, it would silently fail. The new forum software doesn't give me any more confidence in the "tellegent systems" people.

Alex: I'm sure if you run out of material, scanning the code for this board will give you plenty of new material.

    2 new comments:

    1. 100 posts per page is too much, especially with so many people now writing essays in their posts, while quoting half of the previous conversation.  50 is my suggestion.

    2. Threading would be nice.  Most boards I've seen have this.  IMDB does it fairly well.

50 it is. That was easy!

I would love this feature, too. I'll look into the Community Server Community to see if anyone has worked on this.

This is why I suggested making it user configurable. That way I can have my 100 and sas can have 50.

What is the time limit on editing a post, 5 seconds? I just posted the last post and hit 'edit' right afterwards, and the forum told me that the time limit for editing had expired.

Heh heh... you had your way for while, now it's my turn. Stick out tongue [:P]

But seriously, you don't have to page very often with 50/page, and the load time for a full 100 was getting out of hand.  I access this mainly from work, with several T3s coming in here.

It should be user-configurable, for sure.

You definitely need to make the edit timeout more than 2 seconds.

Now I have a post with a spelling mistake Crying [:'(]
