We’ve been fortunate to have some fantastic companies sponsor The Daily WTF over the past couple weeks; thanks to all for your support!
New Sponsors Dart Communications - makers of all sorts of time-saving ActiveX and .NET components like FTP, Emulation, Telnet, etc; we actually use their powerTCP suite here at Inedo. InstallAware - providers of, you guessed it, installer creation software! It make installation of runtimes like SQL Server, .NET, IE7, etc. a breeze; we've also started using it. Rails Kit - developers of the Software as a Service Rails Kit, which includes well-tested modules, controllers, and utilities to handle all the billing/account/merchant legwork for your RoR application. Continuing Sponsors Iron Speed - Developers of a pretty cool utility that generates ASP.NET applications by simply pointing it to a database and clicking through a quick wizard; they also offer a free edition. RedGate - The folks behind SQL Prompt and other time- and frustration-saving development tools for SQL Server and .NET, two of which (SQL Log Rescue and PInvoke Add-In) are free. SlickEdit - makers of that very-impressive code editor and some pretty neat Eclipse and VisualStudio.NET tools and add-ins, some of which (Gadgets) are free. Check out this short video highlighting just one of SlickEdit's Visual Studio integration features. The Non-WTF Job Board - Powered by HiddenNetwork, it features some great job opportunities like:
- Junior .NET Developer at West Monroe Partners (Chicago, Illinois)
- Lead UI Developer at Naviance (Washington D.C.)
- Site Designer & Builder at Card Player Media (Las Vegas, NV)
- Flash Developer at EyeWonder (Atlanta, GA)
- Python or C/C++ Developer at Point Nine Financial Technologies (Agios Athanasios, Cyprus)
And a small announcement: I've finally implemented trackbacks and pingbacks. In theory, at least. Contact me if you don't see your trackbacks/pingbacks appear after a few minutes.

I like ads. They make me happy.

Redgate makes some pretty decent software - we've used their SQL Backup on some small business apps faor a client that were never getting backed up. Works pretty well, even with the SQL Server Express and MSDE...
Some non-WTF software, written for Windows. Now *that's* verging on a WTF right there... |

I was surprised to see ads for SlickEdit floating around the site. I work with their editor on a daily basis (as an OEM who customizes, repackages and reships their product under another name) and I have to say that it is a great piece of software. If you're not working in a Visual Studio environment, then you oughta be using SlickEdit.
