I wonder what percentage of people would break that window with their elbow, fully expecting it to be sugar glass and an extinguisher to be behind it.

TRWTF is the way this site is glad the advertising is not unobstrusive. Brillant.

Regrettably, I blocked the ads from this site again after getting a long stream of flashy animated gifs that made it impossible to concentrate on actually reading the articles.

Looks like aloe vera. You won't be able to put the fire out, but you can use the aloe to soothe your burns from it.

The buttons are probably for quick dial, why they have 3 buttons is a puzzle, there is only one emergency number.

The buttons for the phone are under the handset, which was obviously positioned just right so they didnt show up in the picture.

You have you use the CUT move to get rid of the spiky bushes to get to the fire extinguisher.

That was my first thought -- something looks wrong about the buttons. If you blow up the pic, all the lines in the numbers line up pixel-perfect as horizontal/vertical. Also, the placement of the buttons is really weird -- there's a bezel that's the same size/proportions as a normal telephone keypad, but the actual buttons are tiny and shoved into one corner, in a vertical line? I call BS (or PSD, as the case may be).

Those greens look like aloe plants. You can almost work on them barefoot. Very succulent and flexible, and the 'thorns' are not as sharp as some cacti and their base is likewise flexy.

You have to (U)se the shovel on the spiky bushes to find Imelda's lost brooch. (I know, I know, not the right screen shot but it was all MobyGames had with bushes in it.)

Addendum (2008-08-18 14:27):
Ok fine MobyGames, I can't link to your picture--here's the URI: http://www.mobygames.com/images/shots/thumbnail/942105072-00.jpg

Ah, what wonderfully disbelieving people.

The phone is almost certainly not photoshopped.
You can all stop saying it is.

I might have been a touch more suspicious had I not run across a near identical looking phone with only 1 quick dial button a mere week ago.
Outside a police station.

They produce these phones for places that need an emergency phone, but they don't want to worry about things going wrong.
Essentially you pick up the phone, press a button, and you're through.
I can't begin to guess as to what button goes to where, but put money on the fact that if you pick up that phone and press 1, you'll get through to someone that can help regardless of which of the 4 emergency services are needed.

I also, thinking about it, have a suspicion that that phone may not even be connected to a real telephone line. Rather, it's connected to a dedicated line that only connects to three places.

If you're still not convinced, I may take a trip back to said police station to get a ridiculously high res picture of said phone.

Oh and Alex, can I get this blue'd?

I LOVE it when people call something out as Photoshopped when it isn't. I know for a fact that that phone is real, I HAVE SEEN ONE, also by a beach, in the UK. I don't think it's the same one, but it was a while ago so it could be. I might even have a photo of it, I'll post it if I can find it.

When will they realize that making ads more annoying only annoys your user base? The more I hate your ads, the less likely I'm going to buy your product, that simple.

I'd write and post a Greasemonkey script to remove them *all*, but once it went public it'd stop working pretty quick. :(

I'm not annoyed at the very least by TDWTF's ads... at least now I'm not. The damned Scientology ads were annoying though; so much that they were one of the main reasons Alex dumped those ad providers.

I might be slightly annoyed by the RailsKits ad, but that's just me on my anti-RubyOnRails crusade. All these ads are actually relevant to us! :)

Indeed, there are similar emergency phones with maybe 3 buttons here in St Andrews, although I don't think they have the WTFness of a "dial 999" next to them. Not quite sure what they do say, I may have to go and take another look.
