Its after 12 in the UK, fools.
Surely $38,000,000 million dollars would be a three and an eight, followed by 12 fricken zeroes?
As much as I appreciate the new direction, I find that all that Twittery Web 3.0 just isn't Enterprisey enough.
Now, put the URLs to spreadsheets containing the articles in an encapsulated powerpoint in your Twitter and we're talking business. |

I never get first commment. T.T

You ought to check the fine print on that contract, the Zimbabwean dollar is not doing so well lately :-P
I thought the whole point about april fools is that they are supposed to be believable?
that's the wtf man. ;) I mean seriously. we all know it has to be believable but it just wouldn't make since if we all didn't go "WTF?". thus.... |
You have a very good point... I therefore propose the idea that this is all actually true, and we should commence bombarding Alex with requests for "A little cash, just to keep us going in these touch economic times..." |

People today are more gullible than they were, obviously. Additionally they have lost their feeling for numbers. |
is reading TDWTF right now!
Pfft. there's at least 20 trillion people alive today who would disagree with you there. |

Maybe it's an elaborate setup for a real April fools later in the day. After lulling everybody into a false sense of security by thinking Alex has got out the need to post an April fools, he'll hit us later in the day with a real doozie. |
Hmmm... it is a pity that in today's world where content can be read realtime, online there is still such a thing as a date-line. I would suggest that in the next next web we get rid of time and dates so paving the way of us all being in one space-time continuum...

Don't exaggerate, those 20 trillion can be divided into three groups: those who can count and those who can't. So there are probably only 30 trillion people who would disagree.

The Tech Crunch link redirected me to a non-joke article on The Onion. It must really be the end of the world this time.

Awesm. Congrats 4 huge VC! Look'n fwd 2 read thrgh WTFs inbtwn TXTs & toilet breaks. THXCHRSBYEOMGWTFBBQ
I'm just waiting for web 666.
I dunno... the part about "the collapse of every major newspaper and magazine" seems to be getting more and more believable every day. |
Hmm
The mere existence of Twitter proves to me that people have way too much time on their hands. |

OH MY GOD YOU CAN NEVER FIT THE ARTICLES IN THAT SMALL AMOUNT OF CHARACTERS!!1!
I mean the you have to twitter about 5 times in a row and that was not what Twitter was meant for! ----------------------------------------------------------- Please join my Titter account and see one square inch of my naked body a day. I might have no tits but my penis is truly a nice piece of work. |
$38,000,000 million = $38 trillion. Your venture is worth more than the entire world financial system!
Oh goody, it's April 1. Which means the internet will be very boring today.
/yawn |
Actually I was referring to the obvious joke of TDWTF actually finding a VC willing to back them. If it weren't for that tidbit the article would almost be believabl. ;) |
Reminds me of http://xkcd.com/404
"Going forward, all The Daily WTF content will be condensed to fit in 140 characters or less"
Lame. The Guardian already did it: http://www.guardian.co.uk/help/insideguardian/2009/apr/01/twitter-publishing-and-commenting |
There you go again alex, completely selling out.
I will never read TDWTF again, you corporate money grubber... |
The loose change in my pocket is worth more than the entire world's financial system! Read a newspaper...erm, wait... |

In related news, the staff and faculty of Washington True Faith University have been ousted and replaced by former president George Bush and his administration. To protest the unprecedented faculty replacement, WTFU's student newspaper immediately changed it's name to The Daily WTF. Within hours the paper received a cease and desist order from a similarly named web site. Although lawyers label this as a trademark issue that they must challenge in order to protect venture capital funding, insiders claim the real reason for the lawsuit is that both entities believe they'll soon hold title to the greatest collection of WTF moments in existance.

An Important Announcement
I am pleased to announce some exciting news about the future of The Daily WTF. In this tough economic time when traditional newspapers are folding, we find ourselves positioned for massive expansion into the new world of cyberpublishing. Sukoyah Capital (NYSE: SUCA) has secured $38,000,000 dollars in venture capital funding to expand and modernize our services. “We’re quickly becoming a Web 3.0 world,” said our new CEO, Mark Valentine, “and Social Networking, through redefinition of the concepts of ‘networking’ and ‘social’, will soon become the next big thing. It’s a transformative paradigm, and we’re thrilled to work with Alex and TDWTF on defining it.” A Bold New Direction As part of the transformation, we will officially rename the site to “TDWTF”. By simplifying our logo to a set of bold and powerful letters, we will optimize our search engine visibility while distancing ourselves from any objectionable associations. The second part of our transformation will be to make TDWTF fully Web 3.0 compatible. This includes limiting our stories to 140 characters or less and issuing updates every 15 minutes. Our compact new logo will synergize with this format by leaving as many characters as possible for intercorporate product promotion. We realize that content isn’t just going online, it’s growing online. Experts say that a million new blogs are created every day and, within a year, that number will grow to two million. With such a massive influx of content, we must strive to make ours clear and easily digestible. As a result we will streamline our stories by removing unnecessary noise such as adverbs, punctuation, whitespace, and unabbreviated words. Welcome to the Twitterverse We appreciate that this may be an uncomfortable time for you, our loyal readers. Change is often frightening to the slower members of society. To help with the transition, the rest of the team and I will be tweeting the minutia of our day-to-day thoughts and activities on Twitter at apapadimoulis, jakewtf, mbowytz, MikeyG81. Our old commenting system has been discontinued, so please direct your congratulations and praise through this new Web 3.0 interface. Thank you! |

Only one thing I cay say...
Obvious joke is obvious. |
I'm going to go over to the guardian and say: Lame. TDWTF already did it. As I read it here first, even though both did it on the same day. |

In a related announcement, the IETF has announced IPv7.1
The new scheme allows even more hosts than IPv6, but also allows any bit sequence to carry data, even host addresses. A side benefit is that all packets will also stream digital surround sound (hence the name) simultaneously with addressing and other data. Full availability is expected by June 2088 at the latest. I'd post a link to the press release, but you can't get there from here. |
