Despite all the "This isn't a WTF" comments that will follow, I was amused.

NO U |

My street name is Neo
Looks a bit shady alright. :P
Enter your "street name", or our "specialists" will have to come... "take care" of you... capice? |
How was this even considered as a possible post? What do you expect form validation to say if you don't enter the name of the street you live on?
I don't get it? What am I missing?
CAPTCHA: Crazy ... yep I think so |
Please enter your street name. There isn't supposed to be anything insinuated by the name of a street so there really isn't a reason for the "". |
I think you all missed the point. Street name as in your name on 'the street'. Not overly amusing, but better if you get the joke.

I think most people got the joke, but still failed to find the funny. |
Agreed. I got what it meant, but it's really not that funny. The only thing that makes it vaguely chuckle-worthy is the fact that Street Name is in quotes, like someone else mentioned. But it's not unusual to put variables in quotes like that so someone knows exactly what you're referring to. This is really stretching for laughs guys. It's not even a groaner or an amused chuckle. If anything, it made me look at it quizzically to see if I was missing something. (But I'm not going to rant and rave about how far the site has fallen etc, ad nauseum. I'll leave that for the perpetual whiners.) -- Seejay |

Were you looking for the "dirty" bathrooms? I. |
To say the cause of the WTF is the addition of unnecessary quotation marks is ridiculous considering the very cause of last month's WTF is, apparently, the lack of them:
http://worsethanfailure.com/Comments/Before-Until.aspx And they are both referring to form field names, so it isn't like the situation was any different. |
What makes it worse is that I have submitted a couple of MUCH better entries that never saw the light of day.
I really don't get it.
I don't get it. No, I got the joke and found it mildly amusing, what I don't get is all them people hurrying up to post how non-WTF-worthy this article is. WTF is wrong with you? If you don't find it WTFky enough just ignore it. No comments means it's a junk article. Simple and saves me time reading all the comments from people with no sense of humor.
I've been holding out judgement for a long time because I did honestly get amusement out of the posts and just thought people were getting off on whining. But seriously, TDWTF has hit a steep slope downwards from the old days of Paula Bean and systems driven by the very diagrams that spawned them to the current trend of semi-amusing messages. This one only barely qualified as semi-amusing due to the accompanying text and if I saw it "in the wild" I wouldn't have given it a second glance.
I think the number of people authorising front page posts has to be cut down, if necessary the number of posts in total should be cut down (there is no way you can come up with three a day of decent quality) and the policies regarding what gets in should be seriously reviewed. If this means a lot more stories end up as sidebar wtfs then great, those have been a bigger attraction than the main stories for me for a while now. I used to look forward to my news reader grabbing something new from this site, now it has turned into "oh, another one", and it's becoming a chore. |
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to find the funny in this WTF. |
Commercialized? Did I miss something? |
it took me a while to get the WTF...if it ever is one
This article was funnier at first glance, because I saw the dialog and chuckled. The text above it made it much less funny. I feel sorry for the people who read the title and article text first, since it absolutely ruins what little impact the joke has.
pretty sad. there has to be some more WTF's out there somewhere...

All I'm saying is that I don't get the joke...maybe somebody explain it... |
How is this a WTF and my submition about this web site is not?
www.congreso.es Please, be very sure you want to see THAT source code or that you are running the latest IE version... thumbs up for anyone who can count how many HTML tags you can find Enjoy... waffles... again? I'm getting bellyache |
I'm still searching the WTF. What is so wrong with a sbit strange language on an intranet application? Seeing such stuff every day.
They call me Funkmaster Crunk out in the streets.
Sometimes they even hold block parties in my honor. The greatness of Funkmaster Crunk does not go unappreciated. |
When I came to the site I saw the dialog and thought it was a normal, non-WTF dialog. Then I read the summary and realized that this non-WTF dialog was, in fact, meant to the the WTF itself. I chuckled, but that's about it.
To me, this is just more proof that the site ain't what it used to be. |
Yeah, I guess I get it now.
But you know what they say, "If you have to explain it...." |

Lots of people don't get it :) I'm not sure there IS a joke per se, a pop up with a warning worded like that is just funny, that's all. If you (not you personally) don't find it funny, that's fine, close the browser or go to the next one, no need to beach and moan how bad the whole site is. That's all I'm saying :) |
Weak article, but mildly funny. I wouldn't say that the message is a 'WTF' though so whoever wrote this article is still fired. >:(
Though I'm not from the Street, the people I talk to who are still don't think this is funny. Apparently WTFs don't have any street cred.

What astounds me is the number of people who complain about Error'd. Like, this is what it's always been like, folks. It hasn't gone downhill at all; Error'd submissions have, and have always had, a rather lower bar for being accepted. Alex explicitly said that they aren't always going to be WTF-worthy; they just have to be amusing. The astonishing glut of people who can't read the fine print on their articles and thus realize what they're getting is getting *extremely* old, however.

Boobies!

Oh come on, this was funny. Lighten up.

I DEMAND BETTER FREE "ENTERTAINMENT" FOR MY IMAGINARY SENSE OF ENTITLEMENT! RAAWWRRR!
I don't understand people who get bent out of shape over something that really doesn't affect their lives one way or the other. Or I supposed that maybe it does really impact their lives and that's the real WTF. Ok bye. |

Totally agreed. It was funny. I’m in the middle of Web 1.5 validation and it, as an Error’d, provided a much needed chuckle. As the captcha says: Smile!

Back in the days before we had Error'd, there was Pop-up Potpourri. Sure it wasn't a daily article, but when it did come we had a whole series of truly funny images that were worth the wait. |

Here's the question, if it was the picture and not the story, would you be as amused? This isn't the comedy hut. This is WTF, the WTF should stand on it's own and the explanation should only be necessary to increase the humor, not create it. |

Sad was the day of the site renaming, but even sadder was the day that Pop-up Potpourri disappeared :( |
How is this worse than failure?
Aside from it being erroneously posted on this site... |
There's the people that constantly complain about every little thing that gets posted here. Then there's the quiet few who shrug their shoulders at some of the lamer ones and don't say anyting because they get what this site is about.
I understand that Error'd is a lower standard. I have never once complained about the articles posted here... most I've found amusing or at least have pulled a bit of a grin from me. And generally, there's nothing wrong with a bit of negative feedback. Yes, this is a free site and most of us don't put anything into it... but the fact is, the site promises to deliver a certain product and when that product isn't not just up to par, but is so far below standard, people are going to say something. This "Error'd" failed. And I think that since there are quite a few people saying so (it's not just the perpetual complainers who aren't happy unless they're criticizing Alex and the site), there's a bit more legitimacy to the feedback. Take it for what you will. I find most stuff on here amusing, even the too-long-narrated groaners. But this one is the first that I've felt was really reaching for amusement value and it fell on its face. -- Seejay |
Your face is the WTF. (As long as the comment thread is going to be the real WTF....) |
Hilarious article!
All the bitter, pathetic nerd whiners nearly ruin it however. |
The WTF was worth a chuckle when combined with the post, but the post itself was only funny because it was rendered in a bizarre amalgam of "gangsta" and "pirate" that only a really, really, super white dork could have concocted.
A-*vast*, nigga; you BEST be hoistin' the motherfuckin' Jolly Roger! |

AGREED. Holy crap, shut the fuck up you pocket-protectored failures. No wonder you have no friends. |

This is not only not a WTF, it's not even an Error'd. LAME.

I live on Captcha street. Robots can't find me.

You know, what you wrote wasn't exactly cool and is generally considered insensitive language towards people of color. Ebonics as a joke is no joke, punk!!!
Despite everything I still love trolls like this. Reminds me that I'm nowhere near the bottom of the ladder of internet evolution. Pocket-protector: nope Friends: yup Gonna shut up because someone's trolling: yeah right... |
