"I'm not sure what Drive Thru Parking is all about."

You've not been through a fast-food joint when they're so busy that they can't get your order to you immediately; to prevent clogging the lane (which could lose potential customers, who are usually not in a patient mood), you are directed to park off to the side until your food is ready, at which point an employee brings it to your car and you can drive off into traffic while munching a McGreaseBomb.

Perfectly normal.

Obviously, "Gay" is the cashier's name -- probably short for Gaylord. Maybe he actually is gay, and doesn't mind the nickname. Or, his name could be "Bob" and his co-workers are playing a prank on him.

As for the IBM check, just be glad it wasn't this:

Nothing wrong with the change machine sign. The sign is on the side of the machine, the machine only says "Change" on the front, so if you're looking from the side, you might not notice it.

Also, hmmm...bacon bits.

According to http://www.ibm.com/investor/pdf/ibm_ir_dividends_2008_v2.pdf,
the 1Q09 dividend was $0.50 per share. Thus D.A. owned 0.04 shares of IBM stock which would be valued at around $4 right now.

Taken out as cash, this would be about 2% return annually.

Disclaimer: For investment advice, consult someone who knows what they're talking about. I am an IBM employee and may have a biased viewpoint.

I have a female friend named Gay.

As good name has been dragged through the mud by homosexuals.

OK - I can work out the $1.002 (I think the 0.002 is a bit tight personally) - but e^(i.pi) - surely even bankers can't use imaginitive cash?

e^(i.pi) is the real number -1, so that totals in 0.002

e^(i.pi) = -1. No imaginary cash involved. The check is for two tenths of a cent.

Obviously, the sign is the change machine. What do you think "HERE" means anyway?

That big brown box looks sorta like a change machine, but the painted letters only say "CHAN" followed by some stuff that's partially obscured by a Post-It. Could be a DVD vending machine that specializes in Jackie Chan movies.

Or "Chance" - maybe it's a slot machine. I mean there are a lot of possibilities and there's really no way to know for sure.

This one is kind of lame.

Gay is a person's name.
The "change" sign is helpful.
The dividend is paid quarterly and is based on the amount of shares owned. This person apparently owns a fraction of a share.

and informing that you can get the sticker only if in US _after_ you have completed the survey (mind that there is no word about it on the main page) seems for me so adequate to the fact that it's about M$ :)

I'm not really sure what the problem with the company taking out the flag. Other than being stupid and leaving the text there.

They are an Australian and the US pres was probably Bush at the time so it's understandable.

That "Keep warning the children" sign is from somewhere in Quebec... (Where all the sign have to be in French by law and thus must be the only place in the world where the stop sign doesn't say "Stop". The Canada Post box in the background is another clue...)

Living there we get much more English to French mistranslations... Things like:
"Lamp Oil" translated to "Lamping Petrol"
"Made in Turkey" translated with "Made with turkey meat"
But the best one yet is on the washing instruction for one of my shirt. Original text:
"See reverse for Care.
-Machine Wash cold with like color only
-Non-Chlorine bleach when needed
-Hang or Tumble dry low, Remove Promply
-Cool Iron when needed
-May be dry cleaned
-Do not Iron Decoration"

Was Translated to:
"See Contrary for love
-The machine washes the cold with the loved color only
-The decoration not-chlorine when necessary
-Hang or fall dry, the low level removed on time
-Cool down some iron metal when necessary
-Cleaned. The month of May is dry.
-The decoration is not made of Iron"

At least the symbols are the same in every languages :)

it's not $1.002 it's just $0.002, and that's not imaginary. e^(i.pi) = -1 which is real, the summation = +1 which is also real.

Just because a component has i does not mean the quantity is imaginary, if that were true, Engineers would be in big trouble.
