Comment On A Nasty Error

"I saw this error message on one of Air Canada's back-of-the-seat terminals," Adrian Petrescu writes, "what a comfortable error message to be reading 11,000 feet in the air." [expand full text]

Hey, at least if you make it to the ottom they give you a couple other choices. I guess they just had a bumper crop of AMD Athlon 64s that year.

I'm not getting the cell phone game's bug. Is it simply that he has a pair of two of diamonds? Don't most casinos use a multi-deck shoe?

I thought that was actually quite nice... A nasy error would be much more like "There's always one isn't there... cant stop pressing buttons..Please get a life you stupid looser and learn how to use me before you try".

Only 11.000 feet? There's another error for you. The OP probably meant 11.000 meters, about 37.000 feet, much closer to an airliner's cruising altitude.

Multi-deck for poker??? Are you stupid or have you just never played? Or are you saying that 5 aces is normal in casino poker? They use the Multi-decks for games like Blackjack so it makes it harder for people to count cards. It's hard to count cards in Texas Hold'em since you only ever see a total of 5, then the deck is shuffled every hand.

Here comes the flop...

Two of diamonds, two of diamonds and... two of diamonds.

Mike R., you're first to act.

I wonder what the score is for two identical cards. It would score higher than One Pair, wouldn't it?

Doesn't a movie with a nasty error have at least an 'R' rating? Maybe it was just warning the viewer of what he was about to see.

It just occurred to me, though, that not looking at your hole cards (temporarily, in a low-stakes game) may be a good way to train yourself to watch the other people and assess the board situation so you can figure out what the other people are probably thinking, since now you don't have to worry about your own hand. Somebody not looking at his cards at all is probably a crazy fool... but he COULD be a poker genius in the making.

I can't believe how crappy in-flight software is. I've seen "entertainment systems" restarting video's every twenty minutes, tons of 'features' that didn't even work, and on the flight back the entertainment system crashed after an hour and didn't come back up at all for the remaining 7 hours.

Ah well, as long as it's the in-flight software and not the plane's flight software that keeps flaking out, I really don't care that much ;o)

TRWTF is that Texas Holdem game doesn't let you take a hit, double down, OR split! Of course, you should only split if the dealer is showing a 3-7, but STILL!

BTW, is that a photo of a cellphone taken by a cellphone? I guess cellphones are getting real smart, taken its own picture and stuff.

The issue with SafeGuard is probably because it is installed per-user, rather than for everybody, and only a password is supplied without a user name, but this is just speculation.

On a flight to England on BA two years ago, the in-flight movie system couldn't cope with more than a few users ordering movies at once, so it crashed hard almost immediately after takeoff on both legs. At one point on the return the pilot came on and advised us all to please be patient while they rebooted the movie system. He came on about 20 minutes later and used a much sterner voice to warn us to please not order movies until they said it was OK.

Oh, and why was the channel showing the plane's current location and speed washed out by static all the way past Greenland and Iceland?
