WTF??????? |
|
How is it that a person who has been stripped of position, code and power still manages to thrash unchecked through the source code and not get fired?
|
|
The real WTF is that tyson hasn't been investigated. The whole "last login" change reeks of red flags. What's he up to?!
|
|
The solution is simple... download MySQL, PHP, Apache and/or any relevant technology you prefer and burn it on a CD. Then use it to chase Tyson out of the building. That stuff's like garlic to a vampire for this guy.
"Tyson.. look what I have" "Wha-what's that?" "21st century technology!" "Oh, no, not that, anything but that. Have you no mercy?! NO! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...." |
you say Potayto, I say first. Let's call the whole thing off. |
|
Do you have any kind of Change Management System that Tyson violated when he made these ad-hoc changes?

QFT. This would get you fired in my company. 20 years experience isn't worth the insane amount of errors he is causing.

Syntax error on line 4: Keyword "Potayto" was not recognised.
For more information about this error type "help Potato" |
|
Hold on a second... surely Tyson was the one who siphoned off the entire database of credit card numbers when Steve was told to scrub them (in the previous article). And now he's apparently sabotaging the codebase? I understand that this guy is something of an "untouchable" because of his intimate knowledge of the system but this behaviour is adding up to a dismissal at best and a court case at worse. The fact he still has a job amazes me, even in this WTF laden profession of ours.

Syntax error on line 1: Character """ was not recognised. |

"Waitaminute - hold on here," spitted Tyson
"Spat", not "spitted". The latter means something else entirely. |
|
They had better fired him on the spot.

You must be crap at coding - "what do you mean 'for int i do', that should be 'for every instance of integer i one must perform the following tasks'. But wait, now it won't compile! Why didn't I just become an English professor?" |

And the "we should be able to type whatever" weirdos vs the grammar nazis war continues. To the nazis: minor infractions can be ignored -- were you honestly confused? To the weirdos: at some point your poor typing/spelling/grammar can't be understood -- if i say "bad coed makes me so hawt" am I talking about my interest naughty college girls or my anger at n00bs writing VB? |

Well its not quite what you're making it out to be, Jon.
Spitted actually means that something was impaled on a spit (skewer type object for cooking meat) Spat means that something was ejected from the mouth. Two different words entirely, like Zylon said :D |

Erm, no. "Spitted" has a completely different meaning to "spat". Although, apparently, it would have been fine 2000-ish years ago.

On the contrary. He must be an excellent coder, as he understands the languages he works with and writes them correctly. |

No, the real WTF is that isn't a picture of a castle, and it is horribly Photoshopped.
|
|
Steve should endeavor to have a new source code repository created and move everyone except Tyson to it. Then just let him make his magnificent changes to the code no one is using. He probably won't even notice that no one else is modifying the code for months.

If Tyson isn't fired with extreme prejudice, both and the company that employs him will be making headline news, in the latest example of a rogue IT employee destroying a company's information infrastructure.

Functions with multiple, distinct objectives helps to improve the codebase? Explain! |

The real WTF is that no one forced Tyson to either recognize that writing code other people could understand is a requirement of the job.
When he implied that someone needed years of experience with the code to understand it, he was standing on the rooftops shouting that he was a miserable failure at his job. |
