The reason idiots like this start their own company is because they don't last long at real companies.

We should probably re-organize real life to fit this idea. Next on TVStation67, SportsTeam29 is going against SportsTeam938 in Competition399! Stay tuned!
What does this prove? You could replace those 'generic' names with 'real' ones and chances are it would've made no difference to me. Of course the CEO of the article was naive to think the object-relation impedance mismatch could be so easily overcome, but it's not as if there's a clear solution.

This is not generic enough. What if the next customer wanted to store their dog's name in column male123?

I hate hate hate HATE how idiots like the CEO in this story are able to start businesses.
Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. Those who can't even teach, start businesses.
Those who can't run businesses, go into government and tell other people how to run THEIR businesses.

Yea... Everybody knows that you do not need a good product or idea to start a company, only good sellers. But, for middle or long terms it won't save you. The opposite is also true or Commodore would still be there on the market nowadays.

and a savvy CEO that was deeply involved in the design process

If "game changer" didn't do it, alarm bells should have started ringing right there.

Agreed! I was on an interview for a large company, and they were talking about how the CTO was very hands-on with the web site redesign they were doing, and how cool was that? It's very intense, but the project has a lot of visibility!

    I ran far far away.

The real WTF is that Greg didn't bother to get details on how the stock options vest or how the development process worked beforehand. An interview is a two way street people!

(Doesn't matter that SportsTeam29 plays basketball and SportsTeam938 plays water polo...it's generic!)

You have OBVIOUSLY never written class64 multi-generic 3-Phase scheduler. Everyone knows that TVStation67 is the generic name for any content episode airing on a side-band transmitting antenna with an odd numbered frequency!

Now, if it had been round(4) of the 646th National Opens (note the even sequence), your comment would make sense on Teusdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. But since this is Monday, why don't you just piss off! ;-)

For someone who never has been inside a Starbucks, can someone explain the Starbucks reference to me?

Also SportsTeam938 is actually tax records for an architecture firm and Competition399 is set of recipes.
