One time I got an "insufficient resources" error when I tried to close MS-Paint. It happened when I selected File > Exit, when I pressed Alt+F4, when I double-clicked the thingie in the upper left corner of the window, when I clicked the upper-left of the window and selected Close from the pull-down menu, and when I clicked the X button in the upper right. (There are too many ways to close a program.) The only way I could close MS-Paint was with the Task Manager.

I really don't know what to make of that!

At its original price, Scott M. would be an idiot to buy it. At its discounted price, he'd be an idiot not to!

Especially considering it cannot really agree on whether it is 16x or 20x ;)

  • (cs)

But wait... if i save -$4153.01, shouldn't the price be $8348.01? ZOMG! It's a double WTF!!!

  • Daniel (unregistered)

More interesting is that the price was probably supposed to be $41.95 before, and now $41.99... You save -$0.04?

That's a weighted average between DVD and CD writing speeds. :-)

The real WTF is that at 1185 pounds he is playing guard and not power forward or center...who is coaching that team? They need to get that guy in the paint!

I must say he carries his weight well. I guess it's true that muscle weighs more than fat.

There can NEVER be too many ways to close paint.

Am I the only one that thinks it would be funny if Clippy or Bob or Catface or whatever would throw up any time they encountered an error? Probably.

Only if it involved them exploding in some way. Then I'd create crashes on purpose.

TRWTF is that the 1185lb player isn't the one called Lumpkin.

Either that or start humping the error message bubble.

I'd expect Antonio instead, as he's the second #23 player...

  • ollo (unregistered)

...besides, "Anthony" (and it's Variations) seems to be a rather popular name...

Paint must have been unable to delete a temporary file it was using because there was not enough disk space available.

An unqualified speed is almost always the DVD read speed. So it reads at 20x. The "16x" is clearly marked as a DVD write speed.

I bet it got the out of resources trying to display the dialog to ask you if you wanted to save the file first.

Now where's that MVP for MS Paint when we need him?

BTW it only happened to you once? It's a pretty easy repro.

Heh, I know the shop in that first error'd. That store really is one WTF after the other. Cheap prices though.

Since I'm a bit on the metric side, I did not get the last one until after a while and some conversion. (yes I should have gotten it from the comment)

For the rest of you metrics out there 1185 pounds = 537.51 kilograms

    Err, what?

  • Mike Dimmick (unregistered)

The 'not remembered' error is particularly poor. I guess the guy who saw the error is running Windows 2000 as the message has changed to "The local device name has a remembered connection to another network resource" in Windows XP SP2. It's still not very helpful.

0x8007nnnn HRESULTs are Win32 error codes pasted into an HRESULT. 0x4B2 is 1202, which if you look it up in WinError.h is ERROR_DEVICE_ALREADY_REMEMBERED. Searching for that gets you the documentation for WNetAddConnection2, which is used for mapping network drives. The error actually means 'you've already mapped this drive letter to something else'.

mhm, aren't most of these floating point errors??

if that's the case, you have actually got a second error'd, because then the discount would have been from 41.95 to 41.99

  • Arvind (unregistered)

Perhaps they meant remembered as in re-membered? Apparently, they wouldn't want their devices to have too many "members".

He eats so fast, it doesn't have time to make his face fat.
