On a serious note, what is it that WMP is calling a secret?
Admin
Apparently, according to the first page on Google for "media-player maximum secrets", they're talking about content licenses or DVD keys.
Admin
So that's why my IPOD knows about my man crush on Connery, and why it's been creating a theatrical reenactment of all Shakespearian plays as read by him.
Captcha:riaa, the king of secrets.
Admin
Oh! I so want to push on that 'Details...' button! Juicy, juicy secret details...
Ironic CAPTCHA: doom.

09-f9-11-02-9d-74-e3-5b-d8-41-56-c5-63-56-88-c0?

DRM keys.
Admin
This is likely not specific to Media Player; the Windows Local Security Authority has (always had) the ability to store and retrieve data in the LSA database. Each datum is a 'secret' that is stored in encrypted form.
One of the error returns is STATUS_TOO_MANY_SECRETS. Though I'm more amused by STATUS_SECRET_TOO_LONG.

WMP IS WATCHING YOU FAP.
Admin
it's watching me File and Print? Jeepers, is nothing sacred?
Admin
Looks like they missed their chance to have STATUS_SETEC_ASTRONOMY.
Admin
Who's watching Tell me who's watching Who's watching me
I'm just an average geek with an average life I work from 9 to 5, hey hell, I pay the price All I want is to be left alone, in my basement at home But why do I always feel Like I'm in the Twilight Zone? and...

To a cryptographer, they're "cryptographic secrets". To everyone else, they're "passwords" and "keys".
Admin
HAL-9000 had a similar problem
Admin
That is not a secret, that is public knowledge...
Admin
Such a great movie.
Admin
WMP knows about your porn-watching habits.
Admin
That's why I watch all my porn on Winamp.
captcha "pirates" Arrrgh. Heave to and prepare to be duplicated.
Admin
"they're talking about content licenses or DVD keys."
So there's a limit to how much DRM they can physically cram into my computer? Cool.
Admin
I think we got ourselves an OMD fan here! I saw them live this past Sunday, in Dublin, and it was most excellent, but they didn't play "Secret"...
There are things that I cannot tell, And there are things that you know damn well. This is getting very hard for me, I guess we'd better just wait and see. Seeecreeettt...
Admin
So now AOL knows all your porn-watching habits. I'd consider that wosrse :p
Admin
Too many secrets...
Admin
Except that WinAmp basically uses Windows Media Player in the background... (WinAmp uses DirectShow to play back video, which is what Windows Media Player uses as well). So WinAmp will have the same secrets Windows Media Player does. Might want to stick with VLC. At least it'll keep a secret, and you can audit it to make sure it does.
Admin
So what should I do? Buy the DVDs and hide them behind my Star Trek collection, or get a Mac?
Admin
"I want peace on earth and good will toward all men."
"We are the United States Government! We don't do that sort of thing!"
Admin
Someone submit that to Wierd Al Yankovic quick - this has GOT to get the word out! ;)
Admin
nice. I was just explaining Rockwell to my (Taiwanese born) wife...
Admin
Wierd Al already did a song about the RIAA on his new album - Don't Download This Song.
BTW - the song is availible as a free download...
