Another interesting point with this story, one of my favorites of all time here, is this: What do you do when you're the lone voice of reason in a sea of idiocy? The story mentions that the rest of the team (at least 6 developers) agreed with Larry that Jeffery, the only good dev from the story, was an obstacle with "stupid" things like source control and continuous integration.

Clearly those of us who are sane, as well as Mark and Lisa in the story, recognized how absurd that claim was, but if you were in Jeffery's position how do you possibly deal with something like that, where everyone except you seemingly has no clue at all.

I shouldn't have to point this out, but if you used explosives, not only would you destroy the trees you're trying to harvest, but you'd likely set fire to the rest of the forest thereby destroying your product.

Thanks for demonstrating why your approach is wrong though.

I can go into a job telling them I'll cut to the chase, get the project done faster as I won't be p***ing about with all the trendy fashionable shit like TDD and Agile.

"So, logging company, you are a long way behind on your deliverables (logs). That's OK, I'll cut to the chase and cut down trees faster as I won't be pissing about with all the trendy fashionable shit like chainsaws and front-end-loaders and mechanical log lines. An axe was good enough for me when I started as a lumberjack so I refuse to use anything else."

No you still don't get it do you. I would be blowing the trees down with explosives.

I am the Anti-Pattern. So be it. I get the job done faster.
