Yes, I'm several years late, but my inner sense of nitpickiness is forcing me to post in this thread anyway, pointing out that the verb "to call up" has a secondary meaning, "to summon". I have no problem with saying that I'm going to "call up" Google, by which I mean "request that it show itself to me". Perfectly reasonable.
