The last time I worked at a company with its own server room, we ran our cables through a drop ceiling, not a raised floor.

In the mid to late 80s I worked for a precious metal reclamation company. We extracted mostly gold from computer components and sold the solution for spot gold price. I can't even count the number of 'big iron' mainframe systems we dismantled and destroyed for the gold plated connectors. Sometimes we would just take a sawzall and cut a mainframe into manageable chunks right there in the computer room so we could haul them out to our trucks. Looking back now, it pains me to think about the hardware we broke down.

Me too, but that was in the 1990s and early 2000s, not the 1980s; and the servers were Suns, not Vaxen (which, by the way OP, is the correct plural).

Someone on the original post mentioned under-floor air conditioning. Our Suns needed to be kept cool too, but It would not surprise me if the Vaxen's even higher (or rather, lower) need for temperature control made the difference.

I'd like to argue that the plural of Vax should be Vaces.

anti-trust laws had been literally Borked

Was it? The break up of AT&T was in 1982, so clearly it was still functioning to some extent. The original filing started in 1974 but actual term of what AT&T was to conceed was came about in the 1980. If it was really as bad as you say, surely the whole ordeal was have been buried, similar to what happened to the Microsoft case after the 1990s.

Have MBAs ever brought anything of value or use to a company they come into? Based on reputation they don't seem to know their arse from their elbow and ruin everything they touch.

One VAX - two VAXes, VAXen, or VAXera? Or VAXi? I saw a flock of... many many VAXumsens! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWzYaZDK6Is&t=94s

Look up the career of Robert Bork and his opinions on antitrust legislation.

Okay, by now even those living on the other end of the planet should be experienced their local Happy New year, so good luck to everyone. May all your managers get fired and be replace by sensible developers that exactly know what is true, what is false and what is file not found!
