    Yes, it's common for emailed surveys to ask for your email address, since the emailed survey request can be forwarded to multiple recipients, and you want to know who is actually filling out the survey 🙂

    If one of my friends forwarded a survey to me, they aren't much of a friend. I get spammed enough by the vendors themselves, I don't need other people helping them.

    But they probably also send out links to the survey by SMS or other methods. While it would probably be possible to generate custom links for email that auto-fill this field, it's hardly worth it.

    The other thing is that the email is a survey directed to Doctorate Recipients. I took that to mean that they emailed someone at their .edu/school address, and since they've graduated the school is trying to find out out to reach them in the future at their personal/professional email address.

    Maybe it's just in the US where universities have students use school-managed email services for communication instead of personal/third-party addresses. (Eliminates risk of non-delivery/receipt disputes between the school/faculty/staff and students.)

    Even simpler, the survey may have been sent to an old address which isn't your preferred one.

    The question I have is why the button appears twice. It's like the dots will periodically wander away so often that you need quicker access so you have multiple buttons so you're never too far from a "Realign Green Dots" button.

    Nope, same here. Faculty, too. Just this morning (well Sunday evening really) a student found out their non-tenured advisor had let their mail account lapse. "I need to hand in my thesis by midnight today, and since it's Sunday, nobody's picking up phones either!"

    Yup, your adviser bungled that.
