Funny thing is... thats not even the worst part of the EE web site!

Re: Crossing to the Isle of Wight.

I doubt it's anything like the same since they stopped running the SR.N6 hovercraft service.

(And the cited WTF is strongly dependent on whether you consider that "on time" for the delayed arrival - that is, they truly expect it to arrive 15 minutes after its normal scheduled time - is "on time" or "15 minutes late".)

Addendum 2016-07-22 08:35: And if it was up to me, I'd say that it was 15 minutes late on the display, so as to make it rapidly clear to people reading the diagram. Except that there may be "regulatory" reasons (on-time compliance percentages, for example) that mean there are penalties associated with it being late, so if the delay is for a reason on some "approved" list of reasons, they can delay it without it being considered late, but they must then advertise its on-time status relative to the revised expectation of arrival time.

Don't get me started on EE customer service. I'm still in trauma 2 years later.

Or for that matter on Jira's "you can access the system without being logging in, but we'll give you a permission error whenever you try to do anything" That one's only a minor inconvenience but it gets me every day.

  • RobyMcAndrew (unregistered)

TRWTF is EE. Do NOT go there. They "service" their customers in the same way that a bull "services" the cows.

They still run a hovercraft service between Southsea and the South Island. No longer SRN6s. In fact they are getting a pair of brand new ones (Griffon 12000TDs)

  • Drak (unregistered)

The Isle of Wight one seems not a WTF. Even though they had a 15 minute delay when leaving, they may still arrive on time, if they go a bit faster...

Good point. I'm dealing with that now. We missed the deadline on a project and told the client we needed another month. We're on track to deliver before the month is through, but what colour do we use on the project dashboard? Red because we're overdue, or green because we're doing well against the revised deadline?

  • Carl Witthoft (google) in reply to jkshapiro

Easy: use a striped red/green fill pattern.

Back to the status board photo: there's nothing wrong (ha ha) with the estimate being "on time" and the current status being something else. Nobody said they had to update their estimates :-(

  • operagost (unregistered)

    Today's article is super balls!

  • Angela Anuszewski (google) in reply to jkshapiro

If the project scope didn't change, I'd say red. If the scope changed and that is why you needed the extra time, I would consider it a rebaseline and show green.

The 19:45 Red Jet to West Cowes is never late, nor is it early. It arrives precisely when it means to.

  • Carl Witthoft (google) in reply to Gandalf the Red

Don't anthropomorphize the Red Jet. It gets very grumpy when you do that.

Orange. Between good case and bad case.

Not sure I'd trust any card reader that stuck out several inches from the pump. I'd definitely violently yank on it first, far too many skimmer scams afoot these days.

  • I dunno LOL ¯\(°_o)/¯ (unregistered)

I don't think that's on a gas pump. They don't usually have cash acceptors for $1 bills. It looks like the kind of card readers that get bodged onto bottled drinks machines.

  • skylarmt (unregistered)

My college has those card readers on all the vending machines. I can confirm they say that. They also stopped working after someone uploaded a bad firmware update to all of them across campus at once without testing any of them, and then leaving them like that for a while.

I'm super gay and only spam the comments because I'm jealous of how you guys aren't gay.

My therapist says I should apologize.

    (ok, I'm not him)

  • LK (unregistered)

Excuse me, has anyone seen my end button.

  • Beep boop boop (unregistered)

It looks like there isn't enough space in the display to show 'cancel', whereas 'end' fits fine.

"you can access the system without being logging in"

Been there, too. (Other website, same shit.)

Addendum 2016-07-25 04:00: (I mean, unless you are submitting the login credentials, there's nothing you are allowed to do.)

  • blakeyrat (unregistered)

No, I'm blakeyrat, and so is my husband.

  • TheCPUWizard (unregistered)

Though it is confusing, there often is a button labeled "End" - it is just not on the reader, but somewhere else (often by the product selector).

  • PITA (unregistered)

There is no such thing as 'on time'. You are either early or you are late. The miniscule target of 'on time' is impossible to hit.

It could be worse. It might've been Vodaphone…

I think you are envious. Your therapist should be able to tell you the difference between envy and jealousy.

Sweet blog! I found it while surfing around on Yahoo News. Do you have any tips on how to get listed in Yahoo News?

I've been trying for a while but I never seem to get there! Many thanks http://a.sanok.pl/olej-cbd-ulotka-1024.html
