"Touch with fingers only" is probably opposed to using pens, pencils, sharp tools or other implements that can permanently damage the screen...

Sure, that's probably what they meant, but unfortunately it isn't what people think when they see that sign.

Indeed. Telekinesis sometimes shatters the glass. It's not worth it.

    what is kisok? kiss ok?

"Sure - the desktop is wide open on this in-store kisok," Hugh S. wrote, "But, I don't even want to think about what happened to make the sign necessary."

    Clever dick.

There's a lot of things I wish I could un-see... how did they manage it?

I work for a school district and I once saw a lab of iMacs that had notes on them stating "Do not lick the screen".

  • operagost (unregistered) in reply to Church

I recall that when OS X was new, Jobs called the window controls "lickable".

I sincerely hope that the $1k+ prices are actually '$300 plus hold deposit'.... but I am pretty sure they aren't. That would be one hell of a deposit if it were.

I think the sign touch only with the fingers is a pre-empt of this:

YAY! Another opportunity to mention my favorite screen shot! (<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.techtales.com/tftechs.php?m=199801#151)

I mean, the next escalation step for frustrated customers might be this kind of screen shot.

    Addendum 2016-09-05 04:36: Oops - I meant

(am curious whether this will work)

(your usual rant about edit!=add resp. change!=addendum goes here)

Addendum 2016-09-05 04:40: I definitively clicked the Submit button while typing into the Addendum text field. And didn't reloaded the page.

Okay, I switched to other browser windows to verify that the forgotten / in was my only mistake, so it is obviously my fault if the contents of the text field and some of the stuff outside the text field is submitted in this case.

Addendum 2016-09-05 04:42: I meant, I definitively didn't click the submit button before I actually wanted to submit what I wrote.

Freudian slip? I think not. Rather confusion due to what I (mis)interpreted as impertinence of this engine.
