Isn't it funny that our forums actually use kPosts, kLikes and kViews?

And DiscoRounding, of course...

I actually created such a scrolling textbox field for the old 80X25 text mode UI. It sounds much simpler than the jockeying around a new set of units as these developers had done.
Admin
Sound quite easy, simply show/hide numbers from the UI while keeping the real number in the back. You could run into trouble with the arrow navigation in the text field, but it shouldn't be as bad as that.
Admin
hmm.... there's an idea for a badge series! ;-)

A scrolling text box for numbers sounds pretty scary, too. If you are trying to enter the number 222,222,222 and you can only see 7 digits, how likely is it that you will end up typing 8 or 10 2s?
Admin
A mask and continuation arrows help, but even with a mask the user may forget whether there were 3 or 4 groups of 2's in the number 222,222,222 .

I'm trying to imagine what kind of text-based monstrosity they came up with that would make a number too large to fit in 80x25 characters.
Worst case, if they had something like this: http://beyondrelational.com/live/cfs-filesystemfile.ashx/__key/CommunityServer.Blogs.Components.WeblogFiles/jacob/dosoutput_5F00_thumb_5F00_453204D3.png they could work around it by using the line at the top to show the current amount being entered.
Admin
I didn't take it that the number itself wouldn't fit, but that the form took the entire page already, so there's no room to squeeze it in. That's not surprising at all for old green screen interfaces.
And I've seen those have popups to handle input, which could've been another solution.

That too. Lots of
DOGDOS installers had them for installation directories, which are pretty much always longer than currency amounts (unless you're in Zimbabwe).Admin

DiscoRounding? Are we talking about, say, Diana Ross when she had a 'fro?

Talk about shifting the limitations of the technology that you're using onto the end user...
