True story: A sign on the H&R Block store in a town where I lived said it was closed because they hadn't paid their taxes.

[Sigh] After 25+ years, you'd think people could do web form validation correctly, but no. Yesterday, for example, was stuck by a 2FA authorization code page that couldn't be bothered to trim the whitespace from the end of the field....

Not surprised - every time I've gone to H&R Blockhead to get them to do my taxes for a particular year because of a complicated tax profile for that year, I've never gotten any useful advice or extra info or things on my tax return that I hadn't already figured out. Intuit TurboTax's real-human assistance (for which you pay extra) is just as abysmal. Seems like none of these so called "tax professionals" actually know anything beyond surface-level knowledge that any reasonably informed layman knows.
