Interesting idea! I hope this webcomic turn out to be really nice!

captcha: odio. That's "hate" in portuguese. I hope it's not a bad omen...

  • Jonathan B (unregistered)

    Me likes ;)

  • John Doe (unregistered)

Alex, thanks for giving another delay to really start the work week :) Shouldn't MFD be Mon(datory fun )day?

By the way, It looks like Cobol Bill is wandering off to his scenic Waterfall model.

  • Matthew W. S. Bell (unregistered)

It is "IDEs" NOT "IDE's". BAD BAD BAD BAD.

Yeah, but wouldn't that make it look like "ides" (as in the Ides of March) in the comic font?

  • (cs)

Yeah, it's IDEs, not IDE's, because when the s is in lowercase it's easy to tell that it's not part of the acronym.

Was anyone else reminded of one over zero by the first panel? Turns out Barnacle Jones doesn't have the same kind of hat though.

  • Eli (unregistered)

    A 190kb PNG? Really?

  • (cs)

COBOL Bill reminds me of Doug Pederson, minus the GOTO statements and video camera.

  • Anonymous Coward! (unregistered)

Good idea! I think I'm going do fscking love it!

That's what happens when they choose to use gradients in the background. Seriously -- remove the gradients.

Web comics: Somebody with no sense of humor, who can't draw, typing IT buzzwords and video game trivia into speech balloons.

Aside from xkcd, web comics have no reason to exist. Please have the decency to kill this moronic thing.

    Was I too subtle?

    YOU SUCK. STOP. NOW.

  • Cochrane (unregistered)

I'm willing to keep an open mind, but MFD #0 here was a failure. Well, let's what comes up next.

  • :-X (unregistered)

Interesting idea, but failed implementation. I look forward to the real (?) first one.

  • (cs)

It'll be interesting to see if this one also will fall into the no-update zone after 3-4 months, like so many others. But I am cautiously optimistic!

But stop with the alt="" thing already. (1x1 px images are hard to load on demand.)

  • alexgieg (unregistered)

OMG! Look at his hand! HIS H-A-N-D! It doesn't have fingers, it has tubes! What, I guess, is okay for the internets. All of them.

By the way, link to more webcomics, they're cool. I follow some of those you linked, plus others worth mentioning.

Warning: the last two are furry ones, but fun nevertheless.

  • Rob (unregistered)

Oh Jesus Christ, seriously? The comic isn't funny. It's almost as bad as this site's latest layout.

  • (cs)

Bucked off right out of the chute. Are you making fun of Texans again? Try again, cowboy.

I think someone has a case of the Mondays.

  • jmcnary (unregistered)

Hmmm... Instead of having the web comic run on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, you should have it run on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. It fits the theme of the site better.

  • (cs)

Episode 0 - Not funny. Episode 1 - I don't get it. But I usually like your sense of humor otherwise, so I hope it improves. A lot of paper comics that became classics were rough in the first few weeks. There's still hope.

  • (cs)

I LOVE this comic! I laughed out loud and forwarded it to my entire contact list of 431 people. When will there be another one? Will you post these on a regular basis?

  • (cs)

OK, I'm intrigued. Looking forward to it...

  • Adam (unregistered)

Maybe you could keep the comic, but arrange for it to be announced via a different RSS feed, so that people can follow just that, or just the WTFs, or both, as they wish?

  • John Cowan (unregistered)

    It's "dad-gummit", not "dag-gummit". My wife's a native "dad-gummit" speaker (really), so I should know.

  • Gerrard Iaroos (unregistered)

Honnestly, I think you should have ran this comic on W-T-F instead of M-W-F.

Nonsense, although XKCD might be the best of the lot. Web-comics are awesome in that they are (to me at least) what the internet is all about. Anyone being able to reach a global audience with their message. In that capacity web-comics are so much more noble than "plz buy my v1a6r4."

  • J (unregistered)

When I saw that comic, I thought it would be a WTF. Please tell us you didn't intentionally, unironically create (or outsource) something that unfunny and poorly drawn.

How can someone so adept at spotting wretched code be blind to the wretchedness of this drawing and attempted humor?

  • D. T. North (unregistered)

Kill the comic. Not a bad idea...but I think it somehow lessens the value of your site.

Besides...it's not worth anything if you don't first print it out and take a photograph of it on a wooden table.

Quick clarification...others have a website dedicated to their web comic. Your site doesn't need a web comic...it has real content. The comic will just be ignored.

Where did you get the name Gilroy? Is it in any way related to the city in California?

  • (cs)

Bad title. As in..I can't see it from work. I'll have to wait another 4 hours and try to remember to look at it form home, do to the completely twisted settings the IT person at our corporate office has set for out internet. It tells me that the article is "games"
of course these are the same settings that told me "Craigslist.com" was porn. But either way, I cant see the comic from here, adn Im very sad.

  • Jack (unregistered)

It's official, this site is stupid, now. There's just too much boring content. It's obviously just been added to have people clicking more and loading more ads out of some misguided sense of duty to absorb the kind of content we used to get here. Your comic sucks - stick to what you're good at. I am not opposed to you doing whatever labors of love you enjoy, and I'm sure you'll get a few laughs eventually, but it's just shitting up this area, even more than it's already been polluted by every other new boring feature. Put it in a separate area.

  • Smash (unregistered) in reply to Jack

Jack, no one is pushing you to come here see the oh so boring content. Personally, I did not like the comic, but I'll wait a few more turns before I file it under "crap". Chances are, it will get better in a few editions. As for the rest of the site, my only complaint is the color scheme.

On the other hand, I think it would be nicer not having the strip image displayed on the first page. This way, whoever doesn't like it may just ignore it, and it would also be better for people who access TDWTF from their workplaces.

  • Smash (unregistered)

And I forgot to mention, since the subject is webcomics my favorite is The Order of The Stick. Here are two of my fav strips: this one and that one

Gilroy the city was named after Gilroy the person. Perfectly good name.

Comic's good, keep it! But don't kill off Cobol Bill in the first ep!

Well, genetically, he would only be related if his head is shaped like a garlic bulb.

    So, unlikely.

  • Anon (unregistered)

    You need a better artist.

  • Geoff (unregistered)

How has nobody mentioned Penny Arcade?

  • Sebastian M (unregistered)

I have seen how you replied to people's comments on the name change, but I will still venture my two cents. (I cant find the link, damn!!!, but of course it is your site and yours alone, no-one is questioning that)

I won't comment on how funny or unfunny the comics are , until I see quite a few. But Alex, do you really need this? I mean, the people who take the time come here, I doubt they are going to go away because you don't feature a comic. I for one, already get what I want here. Don't you Americans have an expression about not fixing what is not broken?

I sure hope you wont be typing "New New New New New New Alex", a few months from now.

It's official. You've been upgraded from standard troll to moronic troll.

If the site is too stupid for you, stay the f*&% away. Don't point your browser here. Don't read the articles or comic. Don't waste our time with your moronic nonsense.
