You know what feature I like the most on TDWTF? Featured Comments, that's what. The comic's definitely so-so, but of the hundred or so truly crappy comments, I see no sign at all. That makes the comic worth reading every day. :)

You sound apologetic in your comments and you try to explain your point of view. Don't. The sarcasm is not that great and over the top. Remember drawing and all doesn't matter (at least to me) it is the content that matters first and then the way you use space and characters to create the impact.

Test to see whether this would be funnier if it was about actual battles in feudal Japan. [image]

On preview: not really, but it's better if you imagine the boss is Rick Moranis.

Man i want me a suite like that... with a cape... like the robot dude in Grandma's Boy (the movie)

except... i am not such a big dork as the robot guy, and i'll defnitely not steal someones only copy of a game that they happen to be developing right off the dvd it seems, no code on the hard disk at all...

damn i'm stoned again and rambling again.

    I WANT A CAPE!!!!

Haha.. reminds me of Fix the Joke, Baby

Now, making that an addition to the comic would be awesome. Same situations, different user provided punchlines. Let the gripers get a chance at humor.

oh no one mind me, i'm just here to take my potshot at the comic creator... terrible. i mean come on.. dont tell me u honestly didnt see this coming? its sort of... dull.. lacks character and focus too. and yes, just.. the comic. Good luck with watever you want to do with it :)

The first XKCDs are the author trying to score a head from his girlfriend with pseudo-romantic emo doodles.

The 1.5 isn't so bad, but my comic is STILL better.

    Damn! That's just too funny!!

If Alex won't put yours on the front page, perhaps you may want to add them periodically to the Side Bar?

P.S. George, no offence, but you're still not funny. Sorry. Artwork is not bad, but jokes are lame.

It may not be great, but it's better than the original!

The reason is, in my opinion, that your dialog does not try to be funny, it just says absurd comments that are funny.

I uh... was talking about the shogun comic. Not the actual MFD. Just to clarify.

Why do so many people not like this comic? I think it is pretty cool. Normally the comments are well worth reading, but I now skip them for this section.

Probably because we read other webcomics and thus actually have a basis for comparison.

As a fan of Help Desk, I'm clearly not an art whore. It all comes down to the writing, and the writing on these strips has been clunkingly unfunny.

"Dress Like a Shogun Day", on the other hand, actually got a laugh out of me.

How come your comics aren't funny, and how long will it take before you stop doing them?

Because it's not funny, as comics are supposed (or at least expected) to be.

This is EXACTLY what should be done!

Helloooo!!! It's Mandatory Fun Day! You're concentrating on the Fun and forgetting the Mandatory... It's kind of like the birthday party scene in Office Space. You're going to have fun because the company mandates fun on Mandatory Fun Day. Or else.

The other comic about shogun day is not funny. Please don't try to make comics ever again.

I can't reproduce the problem. Are you sure you're pretending the boss is Rick Moranis?

Oh I'm sorry, did the author say I should do that? I don't like to read text about the comic where the author tells me why his comic is funny.

I think these comics are so good they deserve a different page all of their own, under a different URL, then I wouldn't have to see them. On this site, I mean - I wouldn't have to see them on this site, because I'd definitely visit the other site and see them there.
