TRWTF is that Quentin thinks the boilerplate text is in Latin.

    BTW Frist

As the name of the show with the absurd number of episodes is "The Unbelievable Truth" and is a game show about lying, could the number of episodes be a deliberate gag?

Or is this whatever the opposite of serendipity is called?

  • Ron Fox (google)

And he was trying to use pirate bay to stream unlicensed video because???

  • Matt Westwood (unregistered)

It's not that it's actually that many episodes, it's just that it's so boring and unlistenable it just feels like it.

  • Me (unregistered)

Can't see the problem with the Business Process Architect job description. If anything, it's clearer than most Business Process Architects.

  • Pete (unregistered) in reply to Ron Fox

I like it The Unbelievable Truth. It's not as good as the TV show "Would I lie to you?", but its still good fun.

  • (nodebb) in reply to Sheriff Fatman

I thought TRWTF was that they only found enough classic Goon Show for four episodes.

  • JustSomeDudette (unregistered)

Is there much point in anonymizing the phising survey recipient if you're going to leave his picture in at the bottom?

  • (nodebb) in reply to Watson

@Watson When you consider the BBC's historical penchant for wiping tapes so they can be reused, it's a wonder there are any episodes.

  • RichP (unregistered)

I like the Anthem HR one. Clearly they're looking for someone who is smart enough to email them back. That's a decent way to weed out the "I'm good with computers" applicants.

  • Joseph Osako (google) in reply to David

Well, it must be, because everyone knows that all filler text is the Lorem Ipsum, right?

  • Joe (unregistered) in reply to RichP

or they want an H1B (pre picked) and this is a good way to take out all the people who sent in there resume.

  • BillT (unregistered) in reply to Joseph Osako

Although an up and comer in the filler text market, "Doodah ladderway" still has only a small share against "Lorem ipsum", but it's making inroads, gaining on 2nd place "Etaoin shrdlu"...

  • Lord Wreath (unregistered) in reply to Watson

On 4 because it's only the ones broadcast in the last 30 days that are available on the iPlayer.

  • Verisimilidude (unregistered)

The 'follow up questions' from sbcglobal make me want to gag. Obviously some HR drone who has been given a list of skills that they have no idea of what they are and is trying to check boxes. "Do you have testing experience using SQL queries?" can mean so many things it means nothing. "How have you used SQL queries to automate testing?" "How do you determine that the conditions in a SQL query actually return the desired information?" or even "How have you used databases in your testing work?" would all be easier to answer and give more information to whoever is reviewing the resumes. The rest of the questions are also nonsense (except for the Excel one which gives particular skills sought).

  • (nodebb)

The phishing survey might actually be exactly doing what you'd expect: checking who clicks the link.

I must say that I always open phishing and malware links. But then again, getting the payload out of e.g. heavily obfuscated VBA is stuff I do for fun.

  • Paul Neumann (unregistered) in reply to Verisimilidude

The rest of the questions are also nonsense (except for the Excel one which gives particular skills sought).

Until you factor in that they want those skills in Excel and Powerpoint.

There have been some odd things going on lately with the gmail spam filter.

  • löchlein deluxe (unregistered) in reply to Sheriff Fatman

Ah, yes, BBC online, the treacle pit of horror. They seem to have catastrophal database failures about every two months now. I can't see why, the whole schedule part is so godawfully slow it's probably hand-carved by monks in W1A anyway.

  • Decade (unregistered)

TRWTF is Taleo. And iCIMS. And Jobvite.

When I am looking for a job, I do not want to set up an account with every company, big and small and startup, that has job postings. I don't want to upload my resume, and then type out all my personal information again, every single time. That stuff is not even relevant to the job. It is a tremendous waste of time. I want to get to the point, and move to the next step.

  • Nate Scherer (google) in reply to Decade

Perhaps they want to filter out people who aren't willing to jump through their hoops.

  • Carl Fink (google)
