People deal with horrible events in different ways. One natural reaction is to trivialise their effect by joking about them. Please don't presume to tell others how they should be affected.

The problem of Comic Sans is that people use it in ways not intended originally, i.e. not in comic strips. Replacing it with capital-lettered Arial in comics isn't going to help much.

"What? Too soon?" would have definitely been the real punch-line, though it's still funny as is.
The reason it's funny, for those that have taken offense, is a little thing called irony. It has nothing to do with demeaning a victim or their family... which certainly would not qualify as funny.
As for it really being too soon, grief has no explicit shelf-life. If it's funny in two years it's funny now. It's a sick joke, no question, but I don't personally feel it crosses the line of being untactful. One can simultaneously see the humor here and still have genuine sympathy for those affected by a tragic event.
