You're right- the quality of the comment comics IS directly related to the quality of MFD. Also, the funniest comment comic is always roughly 100% funnier than MFD itself, so logically, as MFD gets progressively funnier, the comments will increase their Mirth Yield at an exponential rate, until the tragic day when MFD itself is side-splittingly funny and reading the comments actually becomes fatal.
