    The better question would be:

Q: What orientation are the lips experiencing blue coloring?

    [] Horizontal [] Vertical

At the University of Michigan I once saw a body painted runner with just that problem.

    Go Blue!

According to Wikipedia, the Windows file system epoch is January 1, 1601.

Interestingly, if you follow through with "none of the above" on the blue lips question, you end up with whooping cough. That would be especially interesting if vertical Orientation...

The 'Something happened' seems like a debug dialog that was accidentally left in (sort of like a printf). Pretty funny though.

  • Sarah (unregistered)

Blue colored lips shouldn't worry you immature little pervs as much as the other symptoms listed on the left. When and if you finally do stumble across a girl dumb enough to sleep with you be sure to watch out for signs of "Drainage and Puss" and "Itching and Burning." One or the other is guaranteed to be there.

Apparently 1601 had at least 28 months in it.

  • Deron Meranda (unregistered) in reply to Anon

I experienced one of these timed dialogs once in Windows, but I only had one button (OK)! I certainly couldn't decipher the whole technogarble message in the time given (especially since I use Linux 98% of the time), but it sounded really scary and destructive threatening that something would be deleted, and I didn't even have a choice between a blue wire and a red one. So I had to hastily choose the "other" button....the power button. I think I had three seconds left on the countdown; whew!

Really, timed dialogs are a bad idea. But if they have to exist, they should at least have a working PAUSE button very obviously displayed!

For sure. And the countdown really really doesn't belong in the title bar, where it's easy to overlook.

I get why they have a countdown, though: it's part of an operation involving multiple files. If you were "putting" 300 files, you might want to leave the room while that's going on. Better to fall through after 30 seconds, than to have the user come back after an hour only to discover that only two files were "put" and there's a dialog awaiting confirmation for the remaining 298... but there damn well better be some kind of error report at the end, so the user knows one or more error dialogs timed out.

OK, I've never seen one of those before. Now that I have, I'm thinking it's one of the top ten stupidest things I've ever seen anyone program a computer to do.

Better yet, shift that file to the end of the list (flagging it if possible) and move on to the next one. If you flag failed files than the program can save wasting time.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from and you're correct. It's lame because the guys making all the "verticle" jokes are mature responsible men living in the real world where they're spending their free time getting laid rather than cracking immature "verticle" jokes? Oh, wait, but they are cracking immature "verticle" jokes so I guess they are immature little geeks. I guess the put-down is more spot on than it is lame.

P.S. You protest too much. Strike home?

  • (cs) in reply to Sarah

If you follow the 'where are your lips' symptom checker, it goes on to ask you if the blueness is made worse by 'coughing or sneezing', then (question 3 of 3), err, whether it's associated with 'eating contaminated fish'. I couldn't possibly comment further.
