It's quite possible that the hotel switched to be non-smoking, but not all of the rooms have been updated properly in their database, so even though there are rooms available, the system still thinks they're smoking rooms.

    Well duh. (strcmp("nonsmoking","Non-Smoking") != 0)

Looks like the UI developer didn't read the server developer's documentation (or the doc lied) and the tester didn't bother testing. Sounds like my last job.

Somebody should just write a StripSpecialCharactersExceptAnythingThatsNotADash_AlsoConvertUppercaseToLowerCase() function

and if you think my use of Uppercase and LowerCase was sa typo, think again. StripSpecialCharactersExceptAnythingThatsNotADash_AlsoConvertUppercaseToLowercase() exists and has totally different functionality from what you want.

Hmm, not sure. Couldn't that be the extended standard UI (i.e. all four extra bars turned on)? I play on a tiny little laptop screen, so the proportions aren't what I'm used to, but I'm not at all sure that that's really custom.

Nope, the pic is of a mod, Bartender I believe. You can tell because of how his crappy layout has cut out the Blizz UI portions. Looks like he has Bartender installed but has no idea how to use it.

The non-smoking rooms thing has been happening a lot in the UK recently. As of last summer, smoking has been banned anywhere indoors except for private houses and a few very special exceptions (mental hospitals etc.). Most of the time, hotels and other places where smoking/non-smoking bookings were common have just added a text line to the website to say the whole place is non-smoking and left the booking software exactly as is.

  • Peter (unregistered)

EQ used to have some messed up timers for certain skills. The actual timer was on the server, but the client was responsible for showing "you have 42 minutes to go." If the date and time on the client were wrong, then you'd get stuff like "you have 4923849234323 hours to go."

The WoW glitch is caused by logging in to server with your hearth on cooldown. The mod knows that your hearth is on cooldown, but the server hasn't told you the exact time left on cooldown. Hence it takes a time from some sort of standard (which always seems to be ~1194h in the past) and gives that crappy error.

That was an old bug that apparently seems to have been fixed somewhere around patch 2.1..it would display 1194h until either the cooldown timers refreshed on the server, or you zoned somewhere or reloaded your UI etc.. but was almost always mod-related.

  • rawr (unregistered)

I see an error very much like that of the wow one in eq2 sometimes. When you log in you seem to not always be in sync with the server, so all your timers show ridiculous numbers. Like a few years. Normally corrects itself within 10-15 seconds or so. ;)

If I still have it, I could prolly post a neat wtf of a vid from wow where the LoD system shoed some interresting quirks when I tried it. (That has been dealt with since I tried it though)

I use Bartender3, and I can tell you that this doesn't look like it to me:

    1. You can tell by the button spacing and the styling that the bars are much closer to the real thing.
    2. CT_BottomBar is a simple mod that allows you to customize portions of those bars by removing graphics and moving them around.
    3. The bar with the hearthstone dragged onto it is probably the "Bottom Right" bar from Blizz's advanced interface options due to its position and spacing (Notice the large gaps between buttons, and the large gap between the bottom left and bottom right bars -- very "blizzard-esque" and not the default configuration for Bartender3). Go check it out yourself in the Advanced Interface options. All the user has done here is disable some of the graphics.

CT also has a cooldown counter of it's own. I can't tell you for sure that it's not OmniCC, but I have a feeling that's the default CT_Mod cooldown counter.

Possible you right. I'm really forget about gaps between buttons. W/o gaps it's looks like bartender, but with gaps it's really looks like default Blizz UI. I'm never see CT_BottomBar but in bartender menu and bags panels and experience bars looks like on screenshot... but w/o connection quality indicator. I'm use Bartender3 too, but I'm strongly reconfigure them and use it with FuBar/OneBag mods...

About CT_Mod cooldown you possible right too. I'm use WoWus (addons update system) and update addons every day. In latest versions of OmniCC cooldown counter looks much better ;), but in old versions... but maybe I'm forget something? :)
