Is ridiculous wen usa people call his country america. Is like japan people calling japan "asia".
Give it a rest. There is no continent called "America". There is a "North America," a "South America," and even a "Central American," but there is no "America."
Sooo... you are saying that, although there is this BIG piece of land floating around, whose north part is called "North America", whose central part is called "Central America" and whose south part is called "South America", this piece of land as a whole is not, in fact, called "America"?
You almost got me there...
So... there's a big ball of rock floating through space, where the north part is called "North Pole" and the south part is called "South Pole", and this rock is not, in fact, called "Pole"?
As anyone from Dakota, or the Indies, or the End of London will tell you, just because a name sounds like part of a bigger thing, that doesn't mean the bigger thing actually exists.

Perhaps if the middle part was called "Central Pole" :D
Anyways - others have thoughts on this as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americas (America may be ambiguous, as it can refer to either the entire landmass or just the United States of America.)
