Way to cater to .0000000000000000001% of the population that doesn't matter. GG
... who appear to be from Wroclaw, and self-catering. (Sorry about the lack of black-l, guys.)

Assuming that you mean "global population," and assuming that I am correct in counting eighteen zeros there, you are referring to roughly 6 / 10^11 people. Assuming further, just for the sake of argument, that the entire world population comprises fat-arsed Yank wannabees, breaking the scales at 200 Kg each, you would be referring to 3/10^6 grammes worth of pointless human flesh.

It's a little difficult to see where a Polish translation makes any difference, here. Might you be referring to one of your own body parts? (The "brain" springs to mind.)

Catering, yes indeed. Ya need fries with that?

Why should English be the only language spoken in the world? Only to help English speaking people to keep the laziness of not learning a foreign language?
For the same reason we have the metric system. You'd hope most programmers would understand the benefit of standards...

    "A foreign language?"

Basically, we can all learn a hundred languages, or we can all learn one language. Why are some people so lazy that they don't bother learning English?

Well, if it's standards you're going for, then we should all learn Mandarin, since there's far more fluent speakers of Chinese than of English.

    Have a nice day sir!

I'm not sure how you managed to completely misinterpret my post.

OK, maybe I shouldn't have put an emphasis on English - any major language will do if we could agree on it. It's just that English is more wide spread, whereas Chinese is spoken more locally (even if there are more people who speak it).

My point was that it's completely madness to argue that the only reason to learn English is to cater for lazy English people (and BTW, English is my second language). The point is that nobody in the entire world knows all the languages there are - but everybody could learn English.

I don't care if it's English, Chinese, Hindi or Esperanto - as long as there is one language we can all agree to speak. It's about communication.

Wow! You seem to know the word Commodore 64! Congratulations!

Luckily for us, IT companies don't think your way. Well, at least those which count (ex. Google). Gosh, why they move from America to other countries?

Well, currently you win my personal prize for "thinking-INSIDE-the-box".

Ah, thanks, that's useful, as /everyone/ in India speaks Hindi, and it's not like English is an official language or anything.

The point isn't that 'my language is better than yours', it's that in an increasingly global society one (basically) consistant way of representing ideas makes things a whole lot easier, and, like it or not, English has become the language of choice for this.

I think you'll find that in 50-60 years if you're conversant in either English or Spanish you'll be able to talk to a large chunk of people in the world.

    Have a nice day sir!

    You too. :)
