    Sadly, you are entirely correct.

    However, beyond mere grammar, there is the fertile field of epistemiology. I feel that this is an area as yet unconsidered by "Error'd."

    If your password has expired, and therefore "must be" -- which is an entirely reasonable assumption -- then is it true to say that "before it expired, it might have been?"

    And what of the new password? Must it be? Might it be? Should it have a choice in the matter?

    These are deep waters, and I suspect that popping up a "dialog box" with a single "OK" button is the best alternative to drinking yourself to death in a Parisian cafe on absinthe.

    On the other hand ... I kinda like Parisian cafes.
