I submitted a screenshot nearly identical to the Dell one here a couple of months ago, but it didn't get posted.

    OK, I'll quit whining now.

Hey, we *KNOW* who wrote DOS. Let's just hunt him down and make him pay!

Well, we really know - it's Tim Paterson from Seattle Computer Products. Now what will you do?

That's precisely the person to whom I was jokingly referring.
Whatever. Kudos to both of you.

Although I can't help but feel that the world we live in would be a better place if Paterson had just eighty-sixed the sodding thing.

Vista has lots of problems and strange error messages, and it gets worse with every system update.

Ever since the latest update, I can't shut down normally anymore. Vista gives me an error saying that it can't shut down properly, because the Task Scheduler is executing shutdown tasks.

    (screenshot)

And this isn't a one-off, I get this every time.

    Of course it's not a one-off, it's a turning-off!

Also, my install of Vista has yet to give me any problems other than Creative's lack of drivers. PEBKAC?

I have been using computers for many decades, and have seen many flavours of Windows, and I can speak from experience when I say Windows Vista exceeds even Windows ME in its shittiness!

Bu the way, I usually boot up in Linux. Linux works fine. it's just that Vista came preinstalled, and I've been trying to give it the benefit of the doubt.

What is wrong with 0478680000000000 as a phone number?
Maybe using "number format" for telephone numbers in Excel? I even know someone who was fighting with this "dissapearing calls" problem in inter-telco reports.

TDWTF all a scam! They never send out any stickers! They just take people's posts, wait a month or two, photoshop them a little, then claim they came from someone else.

Well, I chose the shortest fucking psalm I could, what with having to look "Mercy" up on Google (" Results 1 - 10 of about 45,300,000 for mercy"). But thank you for clicking.

Your foreskin may vary. And, re daughters and slavery (which is a partial interpretation), what is this obsession with American mothers mutilating their male children's penises for no obvious reason? Do they love y'all, or is this just an early introduction to the idea that "Life sucks"?

(BTW, if life does indeed suck, then you get a lot more out of it when you're still the master of your own foreskin.)

The cryptic dialogues and baffling errors in XNews make a little more sense when you realize it was a (HUGE!) one-man project written entirely in Delphi.

I say 'Was' because the author, Luu Tran, doesn't seem to be actively maintaining it any more. It's still one of the best apps available for dedicated nntp surfing and binary downloading. Despite nntp's decline in the face of modern file sharing and Google Groups, the newer newsreader apps still don't work quite as well.

This is now my homepage: http://wer.microsoft.com/responses/Response.aspx/95/en-us/5.1.2600.2.00010100.3.0?SGD=53f06881-097b-436b-bede-420623ad034f

It only appears when I open a new FF window, and I don't do that often, so it's a nice little bit of fun. :P

There are other permutations available too.

BTW, it seems that if you edit any wer.m$.com URL to drop the "?SGD=..." the "Was this information helpful?" stuff disappears. O.o
