oh my gosh! frist!!!11!
Admin
WOW my first FRIST comment. Can't beat it!
Admin
Crap. the answer to my name would be no! LOL
Admin
A note: for ReCaptcha, only one of the words is the actual captcha, and the other one is some word that failed an OCR scan from Google Books. The easy ones here have all been recognized already, so essentially all that's left are words scanned upside down, mathematical formulae, and non-Latin scripts.
You can just type in the word of your choice there. If enough other people pick the same word, it'll even show up in Google Books as that word! Neat!
Admin
Which one is the captcha?
Admin
The 5th one (Karrel's) is Hewbrew.
Also, what 'Your Name' said re reCapture. Just like every other week's 'Error'd' reCapture "WTFs".
Admin
The captcha that is "so complicated that it becomes impossible to read" is obviously Hebrew. Just a click to charmap.exe away. Sheesh, people these days.
Admin
Allright, who broke the domain keys website? :)
Admin
It won't be long before Asian characters become the character of choice for captcha's...
Admin
Nah, that'd be a waste of time. That's almost certainly the OCR-failed word not the real captcha test word... just type anything for it and enter the other word which is clearly legible.
Admin
The Hebrew word would be pronounced "eloheda". Don't know what it means though.
Admin
Close. The last letter is a final chaf, not a dalet. The word is "elohecha". It means "Your God".
Admin
The Hebrew word is Eloeicha, which means "your god".
Admin
I wonder if eventually enough people will enter greek/asian/hebrew/etc. when non-latin scripts come up on these things that the "right" word is in a non-latin script.
(If you aren't aware, with recaptcha, only one of the two words actually counts for the captcha, the other is getting a human to do "manual OCR" for lack of a better term.)
EDIT - I accidentally typed "manual ORC" at first. I don't want to think about what that might be lol
Addendum (2012-03-23 09:50): by the way, that first one, was that the product of an intern and MS paint? (I'm guessing not, but it looks like it.) Made me think of http://thedailywtf.com/Articles/TwentyFour-Bits-Per-Intern.aspx
Admin
I've gotten captchas in Greek, too.
Admin
Just try using charmap.exe to input Hebrew vowels.
Admin
For captchas from before the 1800s, where they use the long S - ſ, e.g. "ſerfs" for "serfs" do you enter the long S or the regular S?
Admin
The qualifier "manual" implies it could be automatic, a vision that I find indescribably arousing.
Admin
Is it sad that despite the fact that this topic has not been up for an hour and people already figured out what the Hebrew Captcha was.
Admin
Maybe because they speak the language? I'm not sure if you're aware, but this internet thing is available to people that speak hebrew as well! Amazing!
Admin
The best thing on the first captcha is that you cannot request a new one easily :)
This will surely teach those annoying customers!
Admin
Duh! You're right of course, thanks! Never saw lashon haKodesh in wavy captcha script before, it threw me off :)
Admin
I ran into a captcha once that basically read like this: //////// Supposedly this could be parsed into V's and W's and M's and I's, but the combinatorial numbers were impressive. Probably NP-complete, and if anyone every answered the captcha he would win a Nobel Prize.
Admin

capcha: transverbero
Admin
Always type the word "anus" for the OCR-failed word. People who don't do this are not effective team players.
Captcha: Anus.
Admin
You're misunderstanding the first one. It is obviously a bunch of OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOs. The black text in the background is there to make it harder for computers to see the OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOs.
Admin
Even more simple : write only the relevant word. The captcha succeed even without 2 words.
Admin
And that's not even the best part. Wait until Bryan actually tries to type the captcha and is told: "Your input is unacceptable; reason: Rude language."
Admin
Next time I see a non-English google captcha, I am totally inputting "the-game", and so should you. (By the way, I just lost the game.)
And yeah. Hebrew consonants: not that hard to input. Hebrew vowels: way harder. So just do like the Bible, and only input the consonants! (I studied Hebrew for a little as a kid. I could at one point read it in the sense of mindlessly converting characters to sound; not so much in the sense of comprehending what I was reading.)
Captcha: אמא שלך Ok, not really.
Admin
Admin
(Un)fortunately, every Internet community seems to have picked a different "backup word" to use for the OCR-failed word, so I don't think we're going to come to a consensus sufficient to get various anatomical terms, objectionable epithets, racial slurs, etc. into the actual pages of a Google Books-scanned copy of some obscure book.
Admin
Don't get so excited. He just accidentally the whole captcha.
Admin
The other recaptcha is also a non-English word. "impares" is probably not an English mis-spelling of "impairs" but the Spanish word "odd" (as in "not even") in plural agreement.
Admin
Ha! 5th example is Hindi word for "gote".

Admin
What?! They're letting FOREIGNERS use OUR Internet? What's this world coming to?
Admin
That and the old-fashioned font. There's a reason why it's not used for anything except bibles.
Admin
That's only because you don't understand that English is not the only universal language out there.
Specifically, Jews of all nations are taught to read Hebrew so that they can read from the Torah (the five books of Moses), even if it is only for their bar-mitzvah.
That's why Marco Polo took Jews with him, by the way...
I'm not even Jewish, and I was embarrassed to be confused because I missed the holem.
Now, if folks were correcting each other about Esperanto, THAT would be sad...
Admin
Admin
BTW, I don't know Hebrew and even I recognized it as such, I don't understand why it's surprising some people could read it.
Admin
Wow Pinkie, you solved the Hebrew captcha! Eloheach = your god (or your "gosh" as you superstitiously prefer to call them)
Admin
If it were some obscure word, or possibly even a fairly common modern word, then you might have a point about the odds of multiple people knowing it. But in this case, it's one of the most common words in Biblical and liturgical Hebrew. Just about every Jewish person would recognize it, even people who aren't in any way fluent in modern Hebrew.
Admin
Duh, the first captcha is "oooooooooooooooooooooooo"
Admin
Admin
Admin
I don't see what the problem with the fifth one is. It clearly says: אֱלֹהֶיךָ vCuFai
The second word is harder, because it's not really a word, and can never tell whether, when they say case doesn't matter, do they mean we can do without the diacritics (i.e., is אלהיך also accepted, except, of course, without the diacritics most people would actually spell that אלוהיך)
Yes, commenters above me said it already. It's in Hebrew, and probably scanned from a book.

My neural network thinks that the first captcha is ri2z53rc. Seems like that picture is in fact an anti-Captcha: an image uncrackable by a human, but perfectly readable by a computer.
Admin
Actually, the Hebrew word is "Elohecha" and it means "your God"
