What's the point? Well, first... consistency. Technically 'color' and 'colour' are both acceptable in English, but the day you see constants named "color_blue" and "colour_red" next to one another, someone needs a visit from the clue fairy.

Second, what's the point of two transaction states that are variations on canceled? What's the difference between them? Which one really means "canceled"?

I've mostly blanked this out in self-defense, but I think it's that one kind of transaction record becomes "CANCELLED" and the other becomes "CANCELED_TX". It's like the way some things become "SALE" and some "SOLD".

That's not that bad. My old company stored the password unencrypted too. They also stored the CC number and all other relevant and related info.

    ...

I can top that. At a previous firm, I've seen at least 2 projects where the user data, including CC information for the 100s of users was stored in an unencrypted MDB (Access 2003, I think - not that password protection would have made that much of a difference)!

The 'security' (ha ha) was that the file was not downloadable.

Oh, btw, the website was open to SQL Injection.

P.S. I reported this to management, but I'm pretty sure nothing was done.

One of these days I'm gonna have to write about a couple of WTFs from that job.

So where did you work? <wink>

That's why they call it a sense of humor:
Thank you Captain Obvious for explaining in tiresome detail what every good programmer already knows. The point really is that it's a JOKE. Sure it is a little more subtle than "Knock, knock...who's there?", but it is a joke nonetheless. Pretty much everyone else got it.
    But I don't have a door... *confused*.

I was working on a some flight simulation code and was having trouble finding the COLOR management routines. So I called the developer and after finding he had a very thich British accent we had a short chat about the weather. A few moments later I found the COLOUR code I was looking for ;)
