The camera was only recycled at 61%, therefor rubbish.

  • (cs)

I just hope that the "61%" notice was written on recycled paper.

(Had to log in to post this comment since the captcha field only allowed me to enter numbers.)

  • (cs)

That handwritten 61% is definitely NOT a wtf! Think about those signs that say: "It's been nnn days since our last workplace injury". It's the same thing; canned information and a periodic status.

Addendum (2009-02-05 08:44): Damn, wrote that before coffee - it's an electronic sign, isn't it (grumble)

  • Deke (unregistered)

Haven't you people ever heard of a constant?

  • Kevin (unregistered)

Double fail on the sign: The 61% may have been right when it was first added to the sign, but based on the numbers in the picture it's not right anymore.

Damn you for making me go back and do the math.

That paper is obviously there just to prevent them from missing the target.

Except the system is already providing live information on the actual numbers involved - all it would have to do to provide the percentage is divide them. And the actual number is 56%, not 61%.

  • (cs)

The 61% paper reminds me of the classic Goon Show sketch "What Time is it Eccles?" by the immortal Milligan and Sellers..

The SP35 is a card printer - for printing ID cards. Still a lousy error message, but not quite as bad as an expansion card (or some silly thing like that).

Out of context, it's a rubbish message. In context, well, it's bait for a true WTF.

    TRWTF is misspelling "tons".

CAPTCHA: abico. Probably another British spelling.

If it's metric it's spelt tonnes, only spelt tons if it's imperial

That's the Queen's ton you're talking about there sonny - show some respect!! Anyway, must be time for some ruddy nice plum pudding...

If I was the ambitious sort, I would take a screen shot of the comment field, then print it out.

I would then type a comment in word, and print that out.

Taping the printout of the comment to the printout of the comment page, I would then place it on a wooden table.

Using my trusty digital camera, I would take a picture of said papers on the wooden table, upload it, and then make that my comment.

But alas, typing my intentions is as ambitious as I want to get.

    That, and I'm at work.

As another poster mentioned, that printer dialog is for a card printer. As such, the dialog makes perfect sense. Perhaps not the absolutely best worded possible, but far from a WTF. What am I missing?

The real WTF is not knowing that they're different units of measure.

Years ago, I worked on Apollo workstations. There was an error code from these machines that indicated that the device was too large to fit through a 42 inch hatch. I never could find anyone who know how to actually get that code.

My comment was invisible, so I writted it down on a piece of paper and stuck it to an electronic wooden table. (Unfortunately it only has two columns.)

That's how Microsoft works. They refer you to the support section of their website for customer service. The support section is broken. How do you tell them that? By using the support section of their website. You eventually give up.

One is a unit of mass and the other is a unit of weight.

Not to mention that there are several different varieties of "ton"...

Card lost in printer... I've actually got that error.

Pidgin English for... wait for it... Paper Jam. admittedly the printer this happens to is only able to handle little flashcard type slips for stuffing envelopes and it's got an overly complex path across the printer.

  • Gotta love embossers (unregistered) in reply to Wizard Stan

I recognized it from the graphic. I hate these Datacard card embossers. We have over 15 on property and they suffer from user abuse. Long fingernails tear off the soft plastic button panels because the cards jam frequently, the end users have little patience, and they never notice error messages. They also clear the out the card layouts frequently due to the above. I could go on and on, but I won't.

It could be worse...I could be digging ditches for a living...

Irrelevant but that reminds me ...

I once got a job with a manufacturing company. On my first day they took me for a tour of the factory. They had one of those signs that said "____ days since the last workplace accident", where someone could write in a number with chalk. And the number they had written in was: "1".

Rather made me want to ask if I could come back for the tour on another day.

    In response to Hadar,

I had to support that worthless product for a short time. That is the standard error message for the following:

Card jammed in rollers that die after 20 prints. Plastic roller failed to pick card. Alcohol swab not run after every single print. Print cartridge installed wrong, or perhaps properly. Operator errantly installed 250 driver on 200 model. Attempt to print double-sided on simplex model. Attempt to print double-sided on duplex model.

I'm so goddamn glad I don't have to deal with employee cards and got back into code (yes, I went downscale, but had to move back to a desert for family health concerns at the time - and the slots' folks weren't hiring).
