Loved it! The art of Radio is certainly not dead! More please!

  • jonkenson (unregistered)

That was excellent! It took a while to listen with all of the constant interruptions at work but it was worth it! Great job guys!

  • Silverwizard (unregistered)

Definitely put this in the win column! Enough WTFs for everyone, and all kinds, while, at the same time, being a radio drama and therefore more awesome.

  • Welpe (unregistered)

That was just great :) Excellent work, Lorne Kates!

A real hoot! And the real wtf is, how did he last so long in NYC?

  • (cs)

Wonderful... Now I can do The Daily WTF and look busy at the same time. Just have the browser tab covered by something work related, and you are good to go.

Of course the better ending would have been JJ being "found out and dumped", making a big fool of himself (more than he already had) and the "Bossman" doing the right thing.

Kinda like a BOFH episode. They always seem to end "well".

Dang, knew I forgot something. Will get that posted. Only issue is that a transcript will exclude our visually impaired audience, so I'll also have to run the transcript through a text-to-speech for them.
You've just got to box outside the ring, and you can MAKE! IT! WORK!

I can guarentee none of the developers on my team would pull stupid crap with comments-- because if they did, I would kill them where they stood.
That was amazing. And awesome. And made my day!

PS: It is "guarantee" not "guarentee" ;)

Sorry guys, didn't sign up for a soap opera. Give us a transcript next time. My time is limited. :-(

Don't worry, it isn't a soap opera. It's a radio drama. You're limited time is safe. You're welcome.

I didn't sign up for grammatical errors!

I, for one, thought that this was epic

Im sorry but Lorne and Remy voice acting was fucking brutal Mark and Alex was mediocre. And why did it sound like every time Remy was talking he was scratching his whiskers.

Don't see a WTF here. If this worked with commented lines and didn't explode (if it was some important code, it'd bug out right away in QA and dev env), so it should be done. Bossman was too soft on this one.

That did throw me off. How can it pass testing if it removed core functionality? Is there no regression testing?

Also, I thought it was odd how long it took for them to roll back, although I just assumed that was due to the storytelling, not an actual sequence of events.

If it work and didn't burn right away (when accessing that part of code), it wasn't really core functionality, just appendix code like mentioned in story.

I'm sure Windows itself (another "fine" product from Mi©®o$oft) has lots of appendix code section that could be safely commented out as well. Like any M$ product.

I would be cynically minded to question the thoroughness of the QA exercise. If JJ can blythely go around commenting out core system code in order to get his amendments to work, he's probably not also beyond commenting out crucial automatic regression tests in order that those tests don't cause his changes to fail QA.

the way you guys are a bunch of ******* *******:
    best april fools post ever!
The real WTF is that you have subscribers who still believe that accusations of non-conventional personal lifestyle is an effective means of insulting someone who you don't like for some reason. But then again that's not really surprising as there are high-ranking republicans who believe that they can improve their position by using exactly that debating technique against the current president of the US.

It's very sad, and just goes to show how far the world still needs to go before we reach that rationalist / humanist utopia towards which all sane humans aspire.

I've seen it, though thankfully they don't tend to last long. Or make it past the interview. In this case, it was for a short term contract rather than a permanent position, so there a greater leniency afforded to people like that.

The original submitter did note that they were told in advance that "JJ" had personality issues, and that the OP went into things fully informed and aware of what he would be dealing with. That's how desperate they were for additional help on the project.

I didn't even see that message, just a complete lack of a download button anywhere on the soundcloud page (all 3 of them), went so far as to make an account thinking that might be the issue. WTF indeed. Take down the misleading Direct Download links if they're not working / being used.
