    What's so vague about the XP EULA? You can use it, as long as you report your test findings.

  • (cs) in reply to steenbergh

    I thought XP was a bit beyond the test stage

  • (cs)

    Does that mean that XP Pro is now free? The EULA shipped with your cd states that the latest is available on that link and supersedes your copy. I think this has to be their best decision ever.

    I see the problem with the Mortage one... He doesn't have any payments over due... this is not normal in the US.

    It's all yesterday news.

    Bad luck Magnus, I hope you're prepared for the deep-seated hatred that you will soon start to feel towards your new ISP. Their traffic management is a riot, you'll love it!

    The new EULA is a command. The end-user is directed to "test" the software. While this has always been the case, I find Microsoft's newfound honesty refreshing.

    Looks like a WTF here by The Daily WTF. Jeremy took the effort to remove his last name from the scan of the mortgage statement, then you guys put it right above the image.

  • Anon (unregistered) in reply to Ed

    I went to that URL, and it looks like the latest version of the EULA is:

    Server Error in '/windows' Application.

    Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

    Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File --> <configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="Off"/> </system.web> </configuration>

    Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File --> <configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/> </system.web> </configuration>

    Maybe he only owes a small part of what his house is worth... It's not like everybody borrows 100%. Most of us are capable of saving our money rather than buying a bunch of crap.

    I assume the ATTDFDFTA... is supposed to be a barcode, but they forgot to load the correct font?

  • (cs)

    No, TRWTF is opening that link in IE (hey, do you trust Microsoft not to fuck with Firefox anymore?) to verify the EULA (and to show my friends, cos that's awesome[-ly FAIL]) and deciding to install the latest silverlight (in case they are doing funky things with the EULA) and having the silverlight install fail only to open a new tab in FX telling me that it succeeded.

    http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/resources/help.aspx?errorID=3010

    And no, I won't keep the side-comments to myself in the future, I'll continue to post them just to keep my sentences long.

    The Gmail one is not a WTF, it just means your computer's clock is running fast. It's JavaScript based -- it subtracts the timestamp from the email from your computer's clock. I've seen it dozens of times before.

  • David C. (unregistered)

    There's no WTF in the Gmail shot. It uses the date header in the mail message. If the sender's clock is fast, this can easily happen.

  • Right Wing-Nut (unregistered) in reply to Americium

    You might not have noticed, but the amount of your mortgage payment depends on the amount borrowed, not the cost of the house.

    Are they still that bad? I'd heard they use to be but I thought they'd cleaned up their act.

    I have a reason for asking - I'm moving soon, and I'll have a choice between Virgin Cable and poor-quality ADSL (2Mbps - long way from the exchange).

    When I close on my house in a while, my payments will be $600. and that's way higher than I actually need to pay; I just want the mortgage gone in five years... This housing market is AWESOME, I tell you.

  • (cs)

    For a second I thought that Jeremy Fry's one was a DNA base sequence. I was sort of disappointed that it wasn't... would have been oddly (and scarily) fitting.

  • (cs) in reply to Stef Murky

    The mortgage company refers to their clients using their genetic code instead of their name. Pretty obvious development when you think about it, once you have two clients with the same name.

    I've seen that indices error before. It's from the Source engine, the engine that powers HL2. I work with it a lot. It spouts that error if you create too many of a certain type of sprite in DX8, or sometimes if your model has too many triangles. I'll bet you didn't care!

    He probably has a $460,000 Pay Option ARM mortgage that he got in 2007. When it resets in a couple of months, his payment goes from $639.92 to $6399.20.
